Every time I think this power play couldn't get any worse, the Hawks prove me wrong. Not a single shot on goal in two minutes. I hate to say it but our star players are no shows thus far and it looks like the Predators just want it more. |

This team, especially the 3x winning crew, doesn't seem to want it nearly enough. Another absolutely dog poop Powerplay. Not even a SOG... |

One of their supposed "bigger" guys gets hammered and dumped because they were too casual with the puck in their own zone....#7 |

The PowerPlay is a farce. Its not even remotely adequate.
Hawks getting throttled right now...Crow keeping it 1-0. |

Wow. Combination of hawks looking scared and disinterested and the predators having horseshoes up their behinds. This is frustrating. |

Going to be a lot of discussion no matter the outcome. But there are 2 points that are clear so far. A) Preds know what's coming, especially on the PP. Lavy has them good to go. And B) Preds want it more. |

PP is depressing and faceoffs that period were abysmal as well. The main weaknesses are still very prominent in this playoffs. Four periods, no goals, very little push. If they got something they better start showing it soon. |

This sports is for young, hungry, strong, men willing to sacrifice.......The Hawks core was that once upon a time........The skill now isn't going to be enough to overcome the faster, younger, desperate teams. |

Keith was brutal period. Is it possible to be too confident? This team's star players always talk about how the don't panic or get too excited when things aren't going well because they know they'll come through it. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe the just think because they've done it before, it's going to happen for them every time. Well, somebody forgot to tell that to the Predators. They look absolutely determined to get past the Hawks this time after losing to them twice before. Shut out four straight periods and our stars (Toews, Kane, Panarin, Keith, etc) have been total non factors. The predators have two goals and both of them came against the Toews line. If now is not the time to panic, when is it?

They know what's coming on the PP because it's the same thing year after year after year. It never, ever changes. The HOF coach wouldn't know a quality PP if it bit him in the a$$. As for part B . . . I couldn't agree more. They are outmuscling the Hawks and winning every single battle. They are dialed in and the Hawks look like the are out of gas already. If this team goes out in the first round again, especially in 4 or 5 games, it should be an interesting off season. Toews and Kane look completely bewildered. Neither one showed up last year against the Blues and we know what that result was. I don't see a different one this year if they don't show up soon. If the Predators get the next goal and they've been very close, this game is over.

The early conclusion is that the core has lost some skill. Compared to 2015, who has gotten better and who has slipped?
Better: Kane
Worse: Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Hammer, Oduya, Kruger
Even: Hossa, Crawford
The rest of the team is younger and less experienced than a couple of years ago. It's a problem. The team needs to flip the switch, wake up, realize these games matter, whatever cliche you want to use, now. |
