It's cyclical. It all depends on who wins, if a big team wins, it's big, if a fast team wins it's fast. If a team with a cheap goalie wins, you don't need an expensive goalie, if a team with an expensive goalie wins, well, maybe you do. It's just like the NFL everyone tries to copy the winner. Actual results may vary.

Agreed, which puts it all into the bullpoop category. And, when it comes to us, we don't have players who know how to win on a consistent bases yet, and we sure as hell don't have coaches who know how to get them there.

I can't think of a slow team that's won the cup recently.

Because both Bennett and Draisaitl would we way more "heavy and physical" than Sam

they can skate very well but they're nowhere near the speed you're getting up in arms about

they went with reinhart because they thought he was the best player...bpa is something do all the time...in fact that's the basis of their philosophy, which is not unlike most scouting departments in the nhl...trades are different...you can tailor the trade to meet your ideal...like the Fasching trade...and the addition of carrier in the miller trade

The problem is his vision was to build the Kings just as the trend was switching away from that style and to the speed speed speed.

I would understand if he was criticized for getting caught moving in the one direction and having to switch courses after starting toward (potentially) an outdated model.

But it isn't that he didn't have vision - he just changed it.

The 'Trend' is just a stupid myth to justify copy cats. If a fast team wins the cup then 6 or 7 lost franchises think you need to be fast to win. Then 2 years later its a trap team with an amazing goalie that wins it and the Donkeys all try to emulate. The year after that its a team full of coke machines and everyone says you gotta play ' Heavy Hockey'.

All you need is great talent and a great coach and 100% buy in. The team that is the very best at their style and most commited to the system will always do well. Through in a great goalie, some great playmakers and snipers and some solid ALL star Defencemen and you can win with any style.

Still can't beleive they could have had the ( extra) 2 Million Dollar man , Sam Bennett or Willy Nyl and went for Samson. For it to be this obvious before their ELC's run out inexcusable.
