- Redmile247

My despising the Leafs is built upon historical facts.
The fans r great.

If you have a true number one Dman next year then #30-31 is exactly where you want to finish.

So many on here this year wanting to lose the last couple of games in hopes we get Nico or Nolan who are good players not great. Next year when there is high end draft picks we want to win

- VANTEL

Reality set in at the end of the season that the team wasn't going to win. Play the kids, let them get some experience so they need to know what to do. Start again next season with a healthy line up and a different voice in the room. I'm glad Canucks fans want to win next season. Purposely tanking is shameful.

I disagree. It's on the player. Eriksson was given many opportunities by the coach, in my opinion.
- Marwood

It's both. You need to get icetime to produce (coach), got to produce/play effectively at some point if you're being given opportunities (player).
Much like saying coaching doesn't effect players, or that somehow the coach makes all the difference, there is no need to go to the extremes here.

I think, but whaddo I know, they needed some fundamental changes, along with someone who was willing to teach more.

Structurally they did not play well defensively for a team that couldn't score many goals. A -61 goal differential was almost last in the league, I think 243 goals against was 6th worst in the league.

LA had similar scoring issues, they only scored 19 more goals than the Canucks with a slightly more talented lineup, however, they only allowed 205 goals against with a 3rd string goaltender pretty much all year.

I guess in short it's not about the end result, but more about the process.

- LeftCoaster

First of all I think he developed Stecher Baertschi Hutton Tryamkin Bo Granlund very well .

The people he sat deserved to be sat.

Secondly You want to make a significant improvement in a high end draft year. So tank for Nico but not for Dahlen . Rebuild over? You are one of the biggest voices all year about getting to end picks in a year of no top end draft picks bu next year when there is high end we don't go for them

Eriksson is just a bad fit here, but with that said, I still expect him to be better next season

More to show that teams that were bad the year before could make a good turn around even though no one believed in them. Columbus, Toronto, Edmonton. Every year is a new season.

don't forget Kane and Toews, man it would suck to gut the roster and end up with a couple hacks like them. Shameful! I know a couple Hawks fans, so ashamed.

By a quick count they were way off on about 7 or 8 teams.

Totally. To be fair to both EG and LE, playing in the West is just a completely different animal. LE maybe shouldnt matter as he played in Dallas for a while. I expect both to be better (hard to imagine much worse).

I would love to have a player like that, unfortunately those players don't come around every year. It took Edmonton 5- 1OA to get a McJesus. We had the opportunity last season and the cards didn't fall Van's way. Draft a good player season after season and you won't need a Lattesby.

Seems like the west was pretty accurate. They royally (frank)ed the eastern conference though

That's very true. Anyone thinking one season carries over to the next in perpetuity is simply guessing & nothing more. Doomsday predictions r for the hysteric crowd & being blind to growth that each season has. A New season a new beginning a new growth curve.

Just for clarity, let me say, I hate the Leafs and hope they never win....anything

Ok...now that we have an understanding; he was justifiably fired, for several reasons, wins and loses weren't necessarily one of them.

None of those 3 teams surprised me.
