I'd rather re-sign Mason to a reasonable 3 year deal than be saddled with Hank's contract. However, if the money and length of the deal were the same, obviously you take Hank.

Would you do the most taboo thing and make a trade with the Penguins for Fluery? He's only got two more years on his deal and makes 5.750 Would he be an interest to you on a short term deal if bough out?

Probably wouldn't trade with the Pens, why help those (frank)ers? However, if MAF gets bought out, sure I'd have interest.

I am curious how much value he has in a trade. I can't imagine them getting a lot for him. And I doubt he waives to go to a team that isn't close to contending or being a playoff team.

It wasn't a burn the Mason haters post. It was more about just the overall mindset behind goalies. There isn't a single person that thinks Mason is better than Lundqvist (except maybe Mason). There are plenty of people that think getting rid of Mason and bringing in a "cup caliber goalie" like Lundqvist or Bishop (both never won a cup) would help the team compete for said cup. Most of the media would say Bishop and Lundqvist are better than Mason and/or had better seasons, when statistically they really didn't.
There is also another point that I have made several times. Goalies go through slumps, bad years, good years, etc. It is a volatile position. I truly do believe Mason is the best goalie that is available this offseason. I think the Flyers can be okay without him, but over the next 2-3 years, the goaltending will most likely be worse.

he ranks about 10-12th on my list of goalies I would like to get for next season

Serious question - is there a #fancy stat tracking soft goals allowed?
Also, yes, with a better team in front of him, I agree that Mason would be fine for the next couple years.
