It seems like a foolish idea.

This isn't some "best on best" tournament. He's already done the whole World Championship thing where he won a gold medal.

What's the end game for him here? Does he feel like he needs the ice time or something?

I don't believe anything major, but doesn't he have a lot of bottom 6 forwards who aren't waiver exempt? I can see him moving a couple of those guys for lower draft in the draft.

I don't have an issue with it. Better he end his season on a high note.

I like Bob, but he needs to play to his salary to win this series.
