$80 to be able to stand in the concourse at Edmonton's playoff games? You going Schwein?

I dunno, at the NVMC, you had Nassau and Suffolk fans. Do you think the Suffolk fans could make it to weekday games at Willets point?
- kindlyrick

Maybe not all, depending on what part of Suffolk. But the NYC fans could hop on the 7 train, and I suspect they'd make up for the fans from eastern Suffolk staying home.

I want the Caps to beat the Pens this year, so I'm fine with the Caps having an easy series against the Leafs.

14 or 15,000 in a rocking Nassau arena would be great but the bigger venues like Barclay's are preferred for the skyboxes which make the extra revenue. Can't deny them the right to make money but they hide the greed factor as a pack of excuses not to use the smaller arena and of course Bettman goes along with the team owners and arena owners because it is a business. Isles actually have a great following on cable, so they are profitable without the huge arena. Would make sense to use Nassau but schedule the big games and playoff games at Barclay's.

Other than the novelty fan. im not sure how many city fans there are of the isles, when most who live in the city are Rags fans or are from NJ, making them Devil fans. Either way I would like to see them come back to long island. I get it that Brooklyn "is" long island, but its really not.

If there was a way to play 5 or so games a year at the coliseum, i'd be THRILLED. But, i dont see that happening. Also, the owners invested to make money. The money comes from owning the arena....which im sure they're gonna wanna do. You dont make money renting a house.

Isnt that where you rent a house and they literally bring women for the weekend that are up for grabs for everyone?
- kindlyrick

I don't know but if I go back I will look into that.

That's my memory, too. NVMC before the renovation held roughly 15,700, but it was one of the smaller seating capacities in the NHL. If an arena gets built from scratch (at Belmont, at Willet's Point, wherever), I'd have to think it would be designed to hold close to 20,000 seats nowadays.
- JohnScammo

There's no way the Islanders would ever fill a 20,000 arena. 16 or 17 would be more than sufficient for the Islanders.

Rabid Ranger fans would show up at Willets Point, just to root against the Islanders.

Im pretty sure i know guys who've gone there and rented a house, that has a baseball field and they bring like 10 ladies, who stay the weekend. Slow pitch during the day, and fast pitch at night, i guess....

Depends where they are located, whom they're playing, etc. A mid-week game against the Vancouver Canucks could be played at the old Commack Arena for all the fans it would attract.

Totally agree Chiefs. POs maybe, but honestly the average attendance the last year at NVMC was 15,000 give or take and BC has been 13,000 and both are with cheap ass seats on broker sites.
If they had 15000 seat and they were sold at list or close to list price the revenue would be higher as well, imho.

A mid-week game against a non-rival opponent probably draws like 11k

I would even say less......prob 9k. They would announce 11k but we all know that was def inflated. The entire 300s were basically empty and they'd announce 11k in attendance lol

Man, I need to talk to my boss about doing a job out there. Leave the old lady at home under the guise of "business trip".
