Yeah but the beers end up being cheaper anyway. I think a 6pk of Stella was like $50 or something. We had to share it with a few other people but what the hell do I care. Still beats the hell out of the regular seats.

Absolutely. Yeah we hung out at the bar downstairs before the game. It was like having your own private bar

$15 is reasonable........but $40 is robbery. Better off taking an UBER both ways.

Yeah people were going nuts because they had to pay 40 for the Billy Joel concert. They complained so much that they came out the next day and said they would look into it

Not gonna lie, if I rolled up to the new Coliseum and they told me 40 bones to park, I'd be pretty phucking pissed too. Then again I just came back from Miami and paid $88 for two double vodkas at fountainblu.......jokes on me.

If they were trying to get them back, and will now spend the money for extra seats, why wouldn't they have done so from the start. The cost would've been much less while construction was taking place versus creating a new project. I like how it said "complimenting each other not cannibalizing each other". By cannibalizing, do they meaning running the old coli out of business.

First off, BSE( Who also owns/runs BC) designed and paid for the rebuild, so they did this so that in everyones mind the Islanders new home is BC and the Fans from Nassau and Suffolk would just have to get used to it. If they would have rebuilt it off the get go with the 15,000 seats required by the NHL the rumors of them coming back would have been in full bloom and BC would never of had a chance. I think thats why they always had an option to add seats.

If The Islanders owner's build another venue in the area I think that the 2 LI venues would make it tough to get the required revenue to operate profitably. This is a disaster waiting to happen because then Nassau stands the chance of having 2 failing venues in the county. Just my opinion of course but I don't think Nassau county is going to approve a project that will ultimately hurt or cannibalize The NVMC which is a county owned property. Although this is Nassau County we are talking about so....

I hadn't either, San Juan is great. It was a bachelor party and we already decided to make it a yearly boys trip.

They have a full-on stadium-seating arena that hosts cockfights. We met a bunch of girls from Chicago that we went with and holy poop was that one of the sketchiest nights of my life.

Its a phucking joke all around. the county, the team, the rebuild of the NVMC.
Makes no sense at all. Although there's a reason the Giants and Jets play in NJ. and the Devils have had 3 arenas in their time in NJ.

NY state is a corrupt (frank)ing poop hole and you can't get anything done!

This new Coli did not make sense from the start. They needed to go a new building done for the Isles.

Isnt that where you rent a house and they literally bring women for the weekend that are up for grabs for everyone?

I dont know what they offered as far as upgrading seats.......but the Coliseum of a few years ago wasn't much more than 15-16k in seating i think.
- kindlyrick

That's my memory, too. NVMC before the renovation held roughly 15,700, but it was one of the smaller seating capacities in the NHL. If an arena gets built from scratch (at Belmont, at Willet's Point, wherever), I'd have to think it would be designed to hold close to 20,000 seats nowadays.

So they wouldny pay 400 million to redo it right and instead spent 165 million for an ahl team and concerts? I remember the first playoff game vs the pens and i read the game brought in like 1 million to the local economy alone. seemed like it was stupid to not just do it right the first time. also all the people that voted no are on the hook for the 165 no? I hope they build a new arena and it kills the coliseum and all these idiots are voted out of office

20,000 is probably a good number, but can the isles sell that out? I kinda liked the idea of a "boutique arena". But, I guess if you get an act like U2 or something, you sell that out no prob. Although. we'd all be with tears in our eyes singing "still havent found what im looking for".

I dunno. 7 posted that the renovation wasn't paid for the County, but by BSE.

It depends on the location, I think. In Uniondale, the Isles would have difficulty selling all those seats, other than the playoffs. But at Willets Point, I think they'd sell out every game against the Rags.

I dunno, at the NVMC, you had Nassau and Suffolk fans. Do you think the Suffolk fans could make it to weekday games at Willets point?
