Its easy to say that youre right when you whine about the same thing 10 years in a row and FINALLY it comes true.....hindsight and all that....

It wasn't hindsight. It was foresight.

what about the people who only whined selectively? I'd say they're brighter than the ones who always defend the team......

Also, look up the definition of hindsight

We really can't win... Predict the future to the (frank)ing detail and the delusional fanboys STILL don't comprehend how it all unfolded.

Hey, the Oilers should trade McDavid now....he's just coming into his peak.....and I'll say this for the next 10 years and when he finally declines, I'll proclaim how right I am - its the Hockeybuzz way....

Just a feeling. NSH can roll 4 lines at you and have three pretty solid dmen that can score...plus better goaltending and to me Rinne is due in the PO's. NSH has kind of flown under the radar and I'm not sure they are getting the credit they deserve. Usually get 1 or 2 upsets in rd 1 I think this could be one of them.

But I've called the Hawks out before and they end up still winning cups...

- LordHumungous

Boston over Ottawa? I think goaltending is a wash, but OTT has a serious advantage on D

The positive sh!t is discussed too, but it's few and far between with this franchise. If people can't handle the truth whether it's positive or negative, that's not my problem.

Some ppl r realistic & pragmatic.
Others like living in the past.
Then there is those who whine about anything.
Lastly & the worst is the flip flopping bandwagoners.

I've read some stupid articles. Wait no sorry, i've read a lot of stupid articles about the Canucks. Mark Spector now trumps Botchford for stupidity.

Point 1: Talbot wasn't a legit starting goaltending when they traded for him. Larsson was not a legit first pairing D. To say that Demko and OJ won't be, is dumb at this point in time.

Point 2: It took the Oilers 4- 1OA picks and a generational player to not suck.

Point 3: Van is only playing these young players because half the team is on IR.

Point 4: JB and Co. have been drafting players in later rounds that are showing they could be capable NHL players. Other then Tobias Reider who doesn't play for the Oilers, nobody outside of the first round is helping that team right now.

Point 5: They signed UFA's. Kris Russell, Milan Lucic, Anderj Sekera. Made trades for Patrick Maroon, Adam Larsson.

I think Spector has it wrong. The Oilier rebuild looked very different the what is happening on the Canucks.

Where the Oilers missed the boat was in total lack of team leadership. The youth were expected to lead and set the tone for the future. But the youth did not have the experience to do that. For the Oilers it took replacing a young leader with a generational talent plus new management focused on a more holistic approach rather than just offense.

With the Canucks, they have retained strong, experienced team leadership. The old leadership core has been moving out slowly. Burrows and Hansen (along with the Sedins) had a strong impact on the team this year in terms of leadership. As a result, the youth, ie Bo, became part of the new leadership. It was his development that allowed the team to move Burrows and Hansen.

It was a rough year, but you could see strong growth in players like Granlund, Sven, Hutton, Stetcher, Markstrom.

The Oilers killed their leadership with the expectation that youth and skill would overcome - it didn't - the youth had no mentors to learn from. The Canucks have retained the mentors and it shows as the youth develop far faster than the Oiler (or Toronto for that matter) experience.

Trev and Jim are on the right path. I expect a stronger more experienced team next year. In a surprising short period of time (ie not the Edm dozen years or the Toronto quarter century), I expect that the media will suddenly wake up one day and ask "What just happened in Vancouver? They look good."

It will make a difference as the young guys take over. Hall was not at maturity and leadership level getting C where Bo is now so far ahead without it. Others to follow. Next season will help a lot toward it.

I like his 5v5 system better than WD's, but it likely won't be more entertaining. The structure he has Utica play with is impressive. But like WD, it's likely that he's going to be tough on young guys who struggle defensively and don't play within the system. Let's all just pray that he isn't as stubborn as WD when it comes to lineup changes if he is hired as HC.

Not my first choice for coach, but I won't be against it either. I'd rather hire him than Ruff or Crawford, but that's just me.

- Nucker101

Yes, I agree that with not getting Ruff or Crawford. Unless Cooper becomes available, I don't think I have a "1st choice" as far as coaches go.

Dallas Eakins has done a good job with the Gulls.....do you go back to that well

Thats why its not a popularity or who scores the most contest.

I like in order Cooper then Green.
I mentioned Cooper a few days ago & if he becomes available then do it.
I don't mind Crawford either if its high tempo offense & let the kids loose.
I doubt thats happening let alone practical though.

Aaah

Cup runs & MG trading off picks.
Black hole created with no prospects & lousy drafting.
Then FA ignoring the obvious trying to make a buck.
Injuries only exacerbated everything.
