I agree. I think we will see a lot of movement in this draft given that there is such range of where prospects will fall on different rankings.
- steve362

Im not even opposed to the Avs trading down in the Top 5 if they get the 1st overall. They don't need Patrick to be a face of franchise C with MacKinnon, Jost, and Compher as their C depth going fwd. If they get trade down and still snag a Top 5 Prospect picking up some other assets on the fly. Im all for it.

No one is really can't miss in this draft

I really think Soderberg's down year really affected the AVS. You guys have to hope that was just an aberration.
- Rinosaur

I want to believe that but I don't think so. Soderberg is a system oriented player, very structured, he said so himself when he first came to the Avs. He likes to know his role and stay within it.

To play under Bednar, I don't see him bouncing back. His skill set doesnt mix with the current deployment anymore.

Matheson would be a nice get . Really depends on who you guys get as a new HC and how he fits in with the Fancy Cats

We have guys like McCoshen and Weegar coming up who could fill that void. I'd make the trade.

Whats going on with bjugstad? Is he the long term 2C fixture to play behind Barkov?

oh no, that would be Vincent Trocheck now who put together a respectable 54 point season (second straight with 20+ goals). Bjugstad needs to either A) play top 6 minutes next to Barkov and Huberdeau OR B) get a change of scenery.

Bjugstad was playing on the 3rd line this season getting barely 12 mins of TOI.

Believe it. Anything that affects important depth let alone a team's top-nine can be significant. Soderberg was supposed to more than just a role player or simple depth. He was meant to be a significant part to your top-nine.

He was under Roy. Just isn't the right guy for this org going forward who will be focusing on speed and skill.

You see a guy like Andrighetto, plays with MacKinnon and Rantanen, they were super impressive. Ghetto with 15pts in 19gms playing on that line, thats a 60 point pace

Unreal how a minor trade from montreals AHL cast off in 20 games for the Avs is basically a must protect target for them

I forgot about Trocheck. Figured he was play wing though. Good to know. Bjugstad would be good trade bait too if Cats need to make a change.

Bjugstad hasn't been the same since his back surgeries, and the concussion he suffered during the playoffs last year really hurt. Then he got hurt in the preseason and missed the first 20 games.

I hate seeing Duchene in that state of mind, but I understand it. Personally, unless the offer is a blow away, keep him for next year. All season he wasn't really paired with any speedy guys and it hurt him. If we get a good D man and a prospect and pick pack, we trade him. But to trade him away for peanuts would be stupid. I think having him around next year wouldn't hurt the Avs chances at all.

Also, if we get first pick, I'd explore trading down to 5 if it mean getting two first rounders out of it. Or a good prospect.

This season was a terrible season, but watching Mikko come on the way he did, then Compher and Jost...I'm excited to see a full season of those 3 for sure. Get some decent depth and I think we can realistically get to the playoffs next year.

It means you go into other teams threads and ask like a hockey know it all savant when your teams franchise as done (frank) all.

I'm not running the Jets, I dont disagree with the fact the Jets have done nothing. To be honest my patience have worn very thin with Chevy, he needs to have a big summer. This is what I hope they'll do.

1. absolute must is another goalie. Darling, Raanta, Fleury, or what I would like is Jimmy Howard because he only has 2 years left on his deal and thats perfect timing for Helly or Comrie to take over.
2. The Jets have drafted well, time to trade some assets to improve this team now. i wouldn't be afraid to trade any of Petan, Connor, Raslovik, Stanley, our First rounder this year or anyone else on the Moose. I'd like a better 2nd-3rd line center type who can kill penalties and play a 200 foot game. I dont like his contract but Zajac (also a Winnipeg kid ) is someone id look at.
3. I'd like an entirely new coaching staff but since i doubt Maurice is going anywhere at least replace Huddy and Flaherty (goalie coach)
4. sign a 5-6 D-man who is a defensive D and he just has to be better than Chairot, Postma and Stuart. I'm excited to see Tucker Poolman next year but we need added depth back there.

In hindsight I was right the last 2 years when I said this team sucked . lol

how the hell would you want Duchene back the most out of anyone else on this roster?

You would pick Duchene over MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, etc?
After watching how guys like those 3 were playing well to end the season, especially post trade deadline, then seeing how Duchene looked like a defeated man.

How is that your take if you aren't trolling

I really could see Carolina emerging as a major player for Duchene.

A) They're only a few key moves away from being a playoff team. Their record is really not indicative of how they played. They turned it up toward the end of the season, but goaltending and scoring is just a weakness they need to address.

B) They have the quality young dmen to offer up. Not sure who they'd be willing to part with; Hanifin, Murphy, Slavin.

I wonder what Duchene wants? Does he want to go to an immediate contender? Would he go to a team like Detroit or Arizona because I could see them using him as their centerpiece.
- Rinosaur

Those teams probably wouldn't want to relinquish the pieces Colorado is looking for.

If my team had as bad a season as the Avalanche, I'd burn the whole thing and start from scratch. Might even change the uniforms and the team name

For every Yzerman, there are 10 Sakics. Excellent players rarely transitiom to excellent execs, in any sport.

I'd start by punting Sakic.
