That should have happened this year. The fact that it didnt leads me to believe he and his veteran presence/cap hit has a guaranteed spot next year.
- Sabresfan-365

I wouldn't be so sure on that, especially with how Guhle looked everywhere he played this year.

Delo was already there so Smith should have played the last 2 at least
- Stripes77

Yeah but he had a strong 0 point effort on Eichel's wing while playing 13 minutes against the canadiens, and Bylsma needed to make sure DLo wasn't the second coming of 2010 Milan Lucic

I don't know why Murray didn't say to Bylsma, "This weekend Eichel is playing with Nylander and Reinhart. We need to know how they play together"
- jcragcrumple

Nylander, unless he take a big step over the summer, is not ready for the NHL.

He looked lost on the ice

They may not have okposo next year. Reinhart probably stays at one of the RW spots

I have to plead ignorance as i only watched him when the Amerks were here a month or so ago. Still, Nylander doesn't have great centers in Roch. Maybe he would excel with a guy who can really play the position. Instead, he played with Erod who he already knows

He could've come in with only one eye and still be an upgrade over half our d-men and yet they sent him back anyways because his camp wasnt "good enough". Meanwhile derek grant saw like 50 games too many because he played well in 3 games against the ahl roster of a few teams in pre season.

I have faith that this team can one day soon be great. I have absolutely 0 faith in this management team getting it there.

I made it a point to watch when he was on the ice the last two games.

I did the southern road trip so I went to both games.

He looked lost when the Sabres didn't have the puck like he didn't know where to go. There were a few loose pucks he could have gotten to but would have taken a hit to make the play but he just stopped and gave up the puck.

With the puck yes, without it not a chance

Obviously defense isn't his strong suit but there were a bunch of plays he either read wrong, or was extremely timid to take a hit

This Bylsma press conference ought to be something.

i chalk that up to being a rookie. id give him an opportunity next year though. he may struggle early on but coach him well and put him in offensive situations and it could pay off.

That would've been interesting, especially with his dance pedigree.

Bylsma. We believe we're on the same with the system and there's not a disconnect

So in other words my system sucks

That's a good signing for a backup

Goes to show Jones isn't ready

So looking to Next year again

Projected State of Sabres:

???? - ROR - ???? (Okposo is done apparently)
Kane - Eichel - Reinhart (why Disco Dumbo didn't make this a fixture)
Ennis - Rodrigues - Bailey (Ennis' play was better the last 10 games)
Foligno - Asplund - Gionta (he's coming back)
Molson

Anipin - Risto
McCabe - ???
Guhle - Bogo
Georges

Lehner
Ullmark

IF they can somehow get rid of Bogo or Molson that opens additional monies to sign players for the ???? positions (even though they will get relief on LTIR for Okposo)

Trade bait = Larson, Girgensons, Dlo (ya right), Carrier, Falk, Molson, Gorges, Bogo, Ennis,

WE NEED 1 MORE PERSON !!!!! Draft tonight at 8:00 !!!!! ( 5:00 pm west)

Basically you are just drafting your whole team you get to pick any player from the teams that are in the playoffs when it's your pick

It's like a regular NHL draft but you're picking your own team

And it's based on stats ( Power Play Goals, power play assist, game winning goals, regular goals, regular assist) those are each one point each If your player gets it during the game

The goalie points are based on wins 2 points ( so you have to pick a goalie that you think is going to win a lot)

So the goal is to get players that are going to get points ..

F-You draft 6 forwards
D- You draft 3 defenseman
D/F-You draft 2 defenseman or forward
G - one goalie

Bylsma didnt give much on kyle but mentioned quickly that he hopes a long summer can help to have okposo back in the room next fall

With that lineup we should have no problem getting Tee times at the end of the year again.

As much as I now question the management of this team getting it done this offseason,
I am much more concerned about:
1) the leadership of this team
2) the mindset of players

Gionta and ROR failed this team miserably.
many players hung their skates up the last 5 games
the team cracked in pressure games when the needed to win to draw themselves into the playoff race back in Dec, Jan and Feb several times

The team is loaded with former captains of their junior/college teams ... that leadership and internal drive did not show-up on the ice.
They all need to look in the mirror and hold themselves accountable, then they can hold each other accountable.
It will be interesting to see who invests in themselves to come back committed to win...and those who show-up for a job.
