I was thrilled at the time to get Grigorenko,
But when I started to watch him, his speed/skating really concerned me

He doesn't bother me nearly as much as most on here
I think he's a smart coach,

Here's the issue with bylsma imo..
-There are things he can improve on that many of us agree on
-BUT those^^ things aren't the reasons we weren't in the late playoff race

Maybe with a different coach we're in the mid 80s points wise but the roster/ depth and injuries wouldve held any coach back

I presume all of them are on the roster next year, hopefully they bottle that up and hold the room accountable walking in the door.

Establish that culture early on. In leadership you can always loosen the reins when you come in with them tight, but you can't tighten them back up.

Do you know what would really set the rebuild back 10 years? Not being patient enough to wait for your young talent to mature as a person and a player, You can't keep changing coaches and GM's every time there is a bump in the road. I don't give a flying fig that Toronto has made the playoffs, That team fell into a pile of manure and came out smelling like a rose. starting with the league handing them Matthews, Babcock got very lucky that his plan of just throwing the rookies out there and hope for the best worked out. TO's defense wasn't that superior to ours and their goaltending was probably not as good as ours. Bylsma went for the old coaching style of trying to teach the young players to play the game the right way and hoping the veterans could carry the day. The veterans failed miserably, I know we aren't supposed to use injuries as an excuse, but, Bylsma had to do an awful lot trying to fit square players into round holes, TO didn't suffer nearly as many injuries to their key players. This rebuild is going to come in waves, players will come, players will go.
