Having two picks in the top 15 in the 2012 draft, and both turning out to suck, really hurts. But, honestly if you look at that draft class, not too much was available after girgs. Hertl, Wilson, and Vasilevskiy, that's about it.

bob mckenzie in one of his early season draft pieces basically said the report on patrick was that of a good 2nd line centre. that was a bit of shocker

Pretty sure he had a rough go of it this year in Philly.

I don't put a ton of stock into +/-, but Severson's is awful.

To be fair, they were moved before they had a chance to work out. I think Zadorov will be just fine. Grigorenko not so much.

Girgensons is 9th in his draft class in scoring. That's not horrible for the 14th pick.

If we got a Girgensons caliber player in '13 or '15 that would be a miss

I don't mean to split hairs, but out of those picks, they churned out their top pair D man, one of the better #2 C's in the league, and a bottom 6 center. I'd say that's exceeding expectations of 4 first rounder's, the highest being the#8 pick.

i realize that but therein lies my point. if one of those picks turned into a #2c, those assets arent moved for oreilly. They get moved for maybe another d-man? And thats not a knock on ROR just at what could have been some really good flexibility in our rebuild.

Awe, come on, you know as well as I do that Murrah was getting his boy either way.

Nobody drafted at or close to Zads would have been a legit #2 center by the time he moved on ROR, and Murrah probably would have still pulled the trigger
