A lot of teams do, I was hoping we wouldn't, and it wasn't a huge regression either. Look at the Avs. The defense sucked, but we knew that going into the season. They scored exactly the same amount of goals as they did last year. They scored 2 today right? 201. And that was without Jack for the first quarter of the season. They allowed 11 more goals than last year. Not good in the slightest, but not some huge drop either. The Avs allowed 35 more goals this year than they did last year. People are talking like the rebuild has failed, shut it down, last one out turn off the lights. A lot of teams go sideways or take a step back in year 2. The Flames did it last year, and they're back in the playoffs this year. The Flames took a 20 point step back, the Sabres? 3.

I see pieces in place in Eichel as our "Kane", ROR as our "Toews/Bergeron", Risto in the making to be a "Keith". I think Lehner is better than Niemi, but I doubt he'll be here when and if this team become contenders.

Awesome....now all you need is a Sharp, Buff, Campbell, Seabrook, Hjarrlsmarsson, and Hossa and you'll be the second Cap era dynasty!

Show me one championship caliber team after 2 years of trying to win.

The Sabres have no one to blame but themselves for deliberately not trying to win. Can I tell my boss or a client when they press me about sucking at my job for "X" amount of time? "Oh I didn't suck "X" amount of time. I wasn't trying in the early part of the time you described, only the latter part. So even though I also sucked and wreaked of dissary in the latter part, all judgment should be forgiven until an unspecified amount of time determined by me."

Real world job performance vs tanking for Eichel is a ridiculous comparison

YOur anology is stupid. Wetwhatever is right. The Sabres are trying to win, but they are as stupid as stupid fans if they didnt expect this tobe another growth/ learning season.

I'm more than happy with our forwards,
and those we have coming

Goaltending I'm also ok with,
Hopefully we can sign Cal Petersen

Obviously need to fix the defense though
I like Ristolainen & McCabe
Hopeful about the Russian we are supposedly signing (Antipin) & Guhle
So we need 2 more good guys that are top4 quality...
then I'll be happy there as well
And we'll be on our way

The amount of time is determined by 99% of other teams that have rebuilt and taken at least 5 years to do so. Jesus Christ. Is it really that hard to understand?

Why does everybody simultaneously think the Sabres suck, but expect them to be better than everyone else at rebuilding?

im not banking on Antipin or Guhle doing anything for us next year. if they do, great. if not, they're just franson and Kuli 2.0.
Faulk/Fedun as our 5/6 could be OK.....georges as our 7 could be OK....but that still leaves a gaping hole in our 3/4.
and McCabe showed us this year that he has no business being a #2 behind Risto, who is probably a#2 himself. our defence his problems......and its not like we couldnt have learned that from Edmonton over the last 10 years.....

Tell me how old Kane and Toews were when they went to the WCF, before they won a cup.

Tell me how old Crosby and Malkin were when they lost a cup final.

Tell me how old Leon and McDavid are

Tell me how old Matthews, Marner, and Nylander are

We are a bottom 5 team....bottom 5. Not "close", not in the hunt, bottom freaking 5.

Teams that took a long time to rebuild didn't take long as soon as they drafted their star player.

McDavid second year - playoffs
Kane 2nd year - WC finals
Crosby 2nd year - playoffs
Matthews 1st year - playoffs

Eichel 2nd year- .....bottom 5 team

Everything is fine

My wish list:

1. Fire the coach and put Murray on notice.
2. Deal our pick for immediate help on the blue line.
3. Resign/Extend Evander.
4. Pray we can move some dead weight (4,26,47....)
5. Bring Gio back at 2M and as an UNOFFICIAL leader.
6. Just stop acting like this isn't Jack's team. Embrace it like Edmonton did with #97! Give him the "C" and work a system around our best players and stop trying to fit a square peg into a round hole!
7. Pray like hell for his own health first obviously, and for our team that 21 gets better!
I am so sick of this crap every year!!!! Can't wait until I'm told my seats are going up again too so we can still qualify for revenue sharing!!!

Well if we get TWO top4 defensemen like I said we need,
That puts Antipin & Guhle on the 3rd pair
Risto is developing into a #1
I like McCabe fine as as a top4

Our defense certainly needs work...
and Murray acknowledged that

So let's see what he does

Ok, I'll give u Toronto, but not Werenski.
Of course he's been really good...
but the biggest difference for Cbus this year is that they stayed healthy instead of getting crushed with injuries like they did last year

And we had a lot of games lost to injury this year
A relatively healthy lineup next year, & a couple dependable defensemen, and we will be just fine

How was Calgary last year?
Teams make big leaps quite often
We can too

We don't have a team of "meh" players
That's crap

You're the stupid one. Weren't you the guy who started cracking jokes when Okposo went to the ICU? Anybody who does that doesn't need to look any further then the mirror to find a very very stupid person.

Also man you're getting very cocky for a guy whose team has been rebuilding for 10 seasons. So let's take down that cockiness a bit, huh? Like common have a little class.

Lehner played 59 games this year and easily could've played today. I wonder if he has a clause that if he played 60 he was in line for a bonus.

My list...

1. Fire Bylsma and the entire coaching staff.
2. Hire Scott Arniel for HC
3. Put GMTM on notice
4. Hopefully Vegas takes Bogosian, Ennis, Moulson or Gorges in the expansion draft instead of Ullmark.
5. Let all UFA's to be walk including Gionta
6. Name Eichel or ROR captain
7. Trade Reinhart for a top LHD
8. Hoping everything but the best for Okposo and his family.
9. Get rid of Foligno and Deslauriers
10. Sign Antipin
11. Resign Kane to a multi year contract
12. Trade our first for another top D. If not draft Liljegren, Valimaki, Heiskanen or trade down for Makar or Foote.
13. Get two of the following Lindholm, Montour, Theodore, Fowler, Slavin, Hanifin, Trouba. At least one of them.

There's only one "D" man worthy of our 6th or better draft spot and if he's gone by the time we pick...... I'm grabbing a very good winger.

1. Yes
2. Meh, rather have Gallant.
3. Sure, but guessing he already is.
4. Would be nice.
5. I'd be totally fine bringing back Fedun and Nilsson at the same price.
6. Eichel
7. Never happen. Not saying I wouldn't do it, but see Hall, Taylor.
8. Yes.
9. Foligno can stay, as long as he's bolted to the bottom 6 where he belongs and is actually good.
10. Sounds like there's an agreement in principle, just waiting for his team to be done with the playoffs.
11. Too early. See if he can keep it up. Start negotiations, but don't finalize until at least after New Years.
12. Fine.
13. This is where I have a major disagreement. Not that I wouldn't love it, but that there's not a chance in hell we have the assets to do that without crippling our forwards(which we can't afford to do). Montour or Theodore is probably doable. Not sure about Slavin. I followed the Ducks a lot more closely than the Canes. But Lindholm and Hanifin aren't happening. And Fowler and Trouba are probably too expensive too. Not sure Fowler is worth it if last year he was worth 8th overall he's probably worth at least 5 this year.

I'd like to add one: 14. Sign Cal.

Idk why Anaheim would even trade Montour or Theodore?
They don't have to protect them
Makes much more sense to move one of the guys who needs protected,
for assets & young players they won't have to protect

I said the Sabres would regress this season and they regressed.

Bylsma will be retained as head coach, ticket prices will go up and Robin Lehner will be the starting goalie again next season.

And the Sabres will fail to qualify for the playoffs AGAIN in 2017-2018.
