And this is why we can't have nice things.
Holy frank, we couldn't get a franking point tonight?
And I blame Gardiner. James Tanner can go frank himself in a rented room. - Atomic Wedgie
Tanner gaurenteed the Leafs a playoff spot. And he stuck with his word all season, and he didn't gaurentee it out of heart. He gaurenteed it with facts(his facts are mostly crazy)
But give your hats off to him |

I guess the proof is in the pudding, into our chances of winning a playoff round. Our defense has been rancid, the last 4 games, and is now beat up. The Leafs have overachieved and as a longtime Leafs fan, I am proud of them. For the record, I would be very surprised that we would win one game against the Caps. It has been a great building block year for the rookie contingent and we can only look forward to growth from this young core. One other side note, is the career years for some of the veterans on this team. It might be a great time to move a JVR or a Bozak, while they have value and shore up this underachieving defensive corp. I think the Jake Gardiner experiment has run its course and now is the time to move him. This Leafs team cannot progress, without better defense and we don't have anything spectacular coming through the minors, anytime soon. The only three defensemen that should be retained are Rielly, Zeitsev and Polak. Hunwick is too slow, Gardiner is too mistake prone and Carrick is too small to be useful, long term. All in all, it's been a fantastic ride, after a couple of years of tanking. Step 2 needs to now take place and actual hockey trades and free agent acquisitions need to be made. Enjoy the next 10 days of the Leafs season. - PrinceLH
I'd still keep Gardiner, he's a serviceable second pairing defenseman, alongside Zaitsev. Their first priority is a good RD (like Trouba, Vatanen, Ellis, Dumba etc.) to play with Rielly, most likely via trade, then scout through the UFA's for a cheap, reliable veteran defenseman for our bottom pairing, probably alongside Polak. Hunwick I'd let go to free agency, and I'd keep developing Dermott and Nielsen. I think Vegas snaps up one of Carrick, Maranchenko, and Marincin, most likely the latter. The leftovers are depth, and not waiver exempt, so what will be will be.

I agree with this assessment. I find that many of the younger people....have developed an antisocial way of communication. They seem to turn inward and really know very little about the world around them and don't care to know. They grow up in a bubble and never learn to communicate outside of their small circle of friends. It's why we see so many of them not married, or in a relationship, long term. Sure, many are educated and hold down good positions, but just as many don't hold down steady jobs and seem to just shut themselves off from society. Too bad, because the world needs sharp minds, if we ever want to defeat fascism and extremism. - PrinceLH
We are no different from bees or ants..
A few make the rules, the rest follow orders.. But I think we are seeing more worker humans saying (frank) the cause I'd rather think about Spider-Man saving Mary Jane or whatever. The world is changing at a pace that neither the older generation nor the younger generation has any clue how to prepare for it. We are in unchartered waters and are kinda just winging it. Which is a little scary because it suggests that all these young people could all of a sudden flick a switch and support a cause that sounds good to them but don't fully understand the past lessons of fascism.. something has soon gotta give and it can't really end well.. |

I'm finding a social divide among age groups right now. It could have to do with Liberal Arts and possible indoctrination. I see a dark trend of Socialism and Islamic Extremism that seem to be crossing paths. In the old world of looking at these two issues, they seem to be a juxtaposition. For some weird reason, they seem to have similar goals, but different ways to achieve them. I see a very dark trend in limiting free speech and actually the idea of destroying what the American Constitution's first amendment right of Free Speech and Assembly for all. On many of the College campuses we now have leftist groups shouting down those who don't agree with what they believe and even attacking some people that are of the Liberal persuasion and not just Conservative. Where does it end? It's not going to end well, as the United States and Western Civilization is now badly divided.
