I know it's best for the players, but this is kind of dirty. All it does is hurt the team. There should be a rule change where if a player isn't going to play again the cap hit goes away completely.

id like to think it would come up in the next cba

Don't think he would be eligible to return to college after signing his ELC. Agree he's good for depth. I think Guhle will be really good, but have to see it before he's going to be as good or better than Ghost.

Guys go back & finish their degrees all the time
He just can't PLAY for Harvard anymore

Why would he sign an ELC just to go back to college and hang up the skates though?

That makes as much sense as a broken coin machine. Sorry been waiting for a chance to use that expression.

Edit: Why would a 6'0 tall Chewbacca want to live on Endor with those little 2' ewoks? It don't make no sense.

- RhinoFan

What? It makes perfect sense...
He signed his ELC now, so he could play & burn a year
He's a senior, so he'd have been done playing hockey at Harvard regardless
He's gonna go back to Harvard to finish the SCHOOL year so he can get his degree
Why wouldn't he?
Both the Sabres & Rochester seasons are over
It wouldn't make sense if he didn't go back & finish up

Hey...if he comes back here and lets this team fly up and down the ice...I'm all for it. But what would worry me is Rivet said a while back that lindy did NOTHING to correct Myers during his rookie season. Pretty much said its Lindy's fault that Myers turned out to be just average

I'm pretty sure when Pegula sent him packing, that bridge was burned.

Need to temper expectations. 2/3 of this wont be accomplished...by any team really.
- Sabresfan-365

So man responded back to my list of what GMTM must get done...that collectively the list is too long for a GM to get down in one off-season.
Maybe so, but if he doesn't get nearly all of it done, kiss the playoffs good bye next year...

So, I ask you...what of the following don't you not see him getting done?
2 new Dman
3 top 6 players; 1 to replace Okposo, 1 winger for ROR, 1 winger for Jack
Figure out the RFA's; Foligno, Larson, Girgenson, Lehner

which if true seems like just the worst idea given the state of our defence.

As a kid, Housley was the most amazing player to watch, defensemen should not be that good.

he may bring in 2 new d-men, but i would temper expectations on reputation and expected performance. Its likely his adds are antipin one new guy and bet on guhle.

3 top 6 players is insanity. which team last did this in one off season? my guess is they'll try to sign one (oshie?) using okposo as ltir relief and try to find their version of hagelin. Someone who isnt universally considered a top 6 forward but can keep up with eichel, to a point where eichel can make him look like a top 6 forward.

I just didnt know what you meant by figure out the RFA's but i think pretty much all of us can say with certainty that at least one of larsson/girgs will be gone. I dont think the others are too difficult to figure out. Nothing theyve done would suggest TM will have a difficult task making a decision on them.

Its by no means going to look great but assuming they do this without gutting the pro roster they'll be close. Or at least close enough that he'll have chance to make a move at the deadline that would get them there.

Okay, I get what you're saying. I just don't see why the CBA wouldn't have a clause in it that says that if a player chooses to hang up his skates mid-contract, the remainder of the contract voids out.
- sskkoo1

As long as the player was under 35 when te contract starts, it does void the remainder of the contract. The team will only be punished if they saved cap space by voiding the latter years. However a player has to sign his retirement papers and can't go play in another league. By signing the papers the player is also giving up the remainder of salary. If a player can't play because of injury they will not sign those papers. They will collect their salary and the team will place them on LTIR.

For the record I would have paid the money for Yandle, he would look good with Risto as a 1-2 pair.
- SABRES 89

He's struggled this year from what I've heard,
And he was never all that good in his own end

Probably too much $$$ for a guy you'd rather have on the 2nd pair
I feel the same way about Shattenkirk

Ugh. Leafs in the playoffs.
- Pierceme69

Just need them to play against the Caps so they get spanked...
that'll be good too!
If they play Ottawa, I think they have a chance to win

bostons already played 82 so it'll be toronto-ottawa in the first round.

I loved that matchup when i was younger. Leafs probably take it in 6

Octopus is healthy for your bro( less fat )(high protein) any type of fish is good for you if it's not fried or with butter and oil

Crab legs etc

I'm off

- GERBE!!!75PTS

In theory...
a lot of the fish actually isn't all that good for you bc of all contamination in the water now-a-days

Nope...
Leafs need to get a point
Only reason they're listed ahead right now is bc they played less games
Boston has more ROW wins...
So if they finish tied, Boston gets the higher spot

columbus has far less to play for than toronto does. My guess is they'll pick up that point
