Need a point out of Vancouver tonight, and of course that's the very last game to start tonight. That Flyers win bumped us out of #2. - Mr.Bobby
which is really incredible. 1 win took us from relatively sure 1a/1bs in Hischler/Nolan, to .. "hmm I wonder which player would pan out the best at 3 or 4??" makes me sick. this player may be with us for a long long time.. and ONE WIN changed .. *potentially* changed everything. insane. |

I assumed we'd trade down. Unless we land in top 3 picks, they should move back to pick a D-man in the 8-12 range. We don't need one of those forwards ranked between 3-8 - TheJerseyDevil1
Completely disagree. Tippet would help and Pettersson would be a very good addition. Valimaki is that dman that plays in every situation, but Tippett and Pettersson would really help our offense. |

He actually looked good from the period I watched lol maybe it's just cause the rest of Vancouver looked so bad out there. Actually I really likely that huge kid Trymakin ? (frank) I thought he moved well for a guy so large! |

So is Albany going to make the play offs ? I was kind of hoping I would still get to follow Wood, Zacha, Santini and all them in Albany but it doesn't look like Albany is going to make it this year ? After bragging about all the youth they brought in and what they did to Albany and they are looking like they have went from a play off team to not. |

Im not going to predict how long the series will go but my picks in the east are
Canadiens (Yuck, but I think the worse thing for the Rangers is to run into teams with Elite Goaltending)
Bruins ( Backes, Bergeron, Big Z, Marchand, Rask, I think they have enough to beat a fragile Sens team)
Capitals ( Ovie can't let a bunch of meddling kids ruin his Cup aspirations
Jackets (very tough but I like the way the jackets play and with Letang injured it swayed me)
In the west I like
Hawks (This was tough as well as both teams scored similar goals this season so it cam down to GA lol)
Blues ( Don't like their goaltending but I have a feeling that nothing good will come to ZP)
Flames (I like Tkachuk I am more so rooting then predicting they win but I think they have the pieces to upset the Ducks if things go right lol)
Oil ( how do you stop McDavid? ) |

We need scorers just as much as D men. I don't think they drop out of the top 5. |

Yeah there is no issue with having next to no defence men in the cupboards when there is hardly any NHL caliber defenders on the NHL team. Address the weakness at the NHL level keep drafting forwards as the problem isn't NHL scorers, it's having no forward prospects in the system. We have maybe two guys that have top six potential and no one that is a sure fire top line elite player so I don't think we should abandon our plan of loading up on forward prospects after one year of the plan when you didn't even get a top 5 talent, that just seems ridiculous to me.
I don't see any defence man in this draft being capable of coming in and playing a big role and effecting any teams play right away so why draft a guy to play in 4 years at that position when you need guys at that position ready right now.
Now im not saying don't draft any dmen but I am saying we are not at the point where we need to trade down for lesser players just to fill a positional need ( I argue the need is at the NHL anyways) |

What really happened is the following: (For some reason we're behind Arizona, which makes no sense since they have more wins)... anyway
We have a 26% chance to get into the top 3. We are "likely" moving down to 5.
Good news is that between picks 3-7 is almost no gap. I argue that Patrick will be no better than they are come the draft in 2018. We're almost definitely picking up a center; the D are dropping like flies in this draft. Liljegren is even projected to go 7-10 now.
If we don't get Hischier, we're going to get a guy that projects to be a top 6 center, almost guaranteed. Don't worry too much about where we're picking, but who our scouts are. |
