The Neuro-ICU is a 24 bed facility that is operated by a team of board certified physicians and nurses. The Neuro-ICU cares for patients with all types of neurosurgical and neurological injuries, including stroke, brain hemorrhage, trauma and tumors.

And many, many other things.

Neurological disorders are diseases of the brain, spine and the nerves that connect them. There are more than 600 diseases of the nervous system, such as brain tumors, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and stroke as well as less familiar ones such as frontotemporal dementia.
- Google

Any and all of those things can land you in neuro surg ICU.

Continued

Common diseases treated in neurointensive care units include strokes, ruptured aneurysms, brain and spinal cord injury from trauma, seizures (especially those that last for a long period of time- status epilepticus, and/or involve trauma to the patient, i.e., due to a stroke or a fall), swelling of the brain (intracranial edema), infections of the brain (encephalitis) and the brain's or spine's meninges (meningitis), brain tumors (especially malignant cases; with neurological oncology), and weakness of the muscles required to breathe (such as the diaphragm). Besides dealing with critical illness of the nervous system, neurointensivists also treat the medical complications that may occur in their patients, including those of the heart, lung, kidneys, or any other body system, including treatment of infections.

If I had even the slightest indication it was true I'd post it in a heartbeat. But there're major pieces missing. Give it a few days/a week and I'd be willing to bet we find out what it actually is.
- Wetbandit1

That's fine and all but you have dozens of people on here, and I'm not even saying its me, that are curious/concerned and asking for an idea of what it is and then people saying "Well I got a guy who knows a guy and they told me but I'm not telling you" is very hypocritical. Then we have people saying "Be patient and keep him and his family in your prayers" like, what?

Let's say it turns out to be flatulence. Why am I "praying" for him?

Let's say it turns out to be a disease that's life and career threatening. I'm not saying we have a right to know, but do you know how many people would then race to google and read about the possible condition? Which can only be a good thing, raise awareness and knowledge.

What I do think is if you're an active poster on here and you're one of the ones (not saying you are, specifically) who has been dangling this and posting about it over the 10 pages of this thread and hinting at it in the last one, one of the ones with regular inside information and a source, you absolutely should feel obligated to post us an update. Instead, we have this "PM me" bull-poop, basically saying I'll tell you if you beg me for it, which is despicable.

I don't want to, out of respect.

I couldn't imagine living in a world where Kyle Okposo hates sbroads24

They're prefacing it with saying that it's a 4th hand account. That is fair then to simply say you heard a rumor it was severe and leave it at that. If there isn't a public statement made it is because the Okposo family has made that their wish. I actually applaud that behavior. Releasing it would be the repulsive thing to do.

I know you're just horsing around...but if you were really ill in the hospital and just got life altering news...would you then want to walk outside and read that on the front cover of the paper? If it goes public that would happen. I think there's a moral obligation for those in "the know" to hold out until KO is ready to make or allow a formal statement. That isn't to hoity toity is it?
- RhinoFan

It's just kind of silly. We are usernames on an internet chat room.

Either post what you think you know or shut up about it.

I find it ironic people are scared of spreading a "rumor" on Hockeybuzz. If it makes them feel better attach an E3 next to the rumored ailment and move on

Sir, there is a price to pay for being a celebrity and professional athletes are celebrities. It comes with the territory. We're on an obscure internet forum on a message board with maybe 20 active, regular posters. I highly doubt if someone let the beans spill here that the Buffalo News would be all over it. This is EXACTLY the place to post it, if there is a place. We're a pretty tight-knit group here.

I know two doctors inside the PSE empire. One I'm related to. He told me this morning what happened to Okposo. I stood there for like 12 seconds with my jaw down. I asked if he'll be alright and he said he will. But it's scary, the team had every right to be very concerned and keeping it private was more than a legal obligation. Call me a wienerhead for not repeating it but twice as many of you would call me a wienerhead for actually posting it online.
- Buffalo--Sabres

Keeping it private, but yet some guy you know blabbed it to you and not just you, apparently several people on here. Do you not see the double-standard here? That's mostly what I'm on about.

I agree, and I made a mistake even saying I heard the speculation. Especially since I said the same thing last night about not saying anything if you can't say anything. I don't care if he stubbed his toe, something this far removed from the source can't possibly hope to be accurate.

But you also have to remember that if you hear it from a source and they say not to repeat it, which is a bit ironic in the first place, and you do, you might piss that person off and you might not get any info in the future. I am not one of the ones with an inside source. I used to have a source, it was all second hand, after the fact, but all true in the end, but they moved and are no longer in the loop. I don't feel any closer to knowing what's going on because I heard a 4th hand rumor which might actually turn out to be true, but I doubt it's anywhere near the full story. But odds say is total bullpoop at this point.

It's not the relationship that he's talking about, it's the fact that he said something, but told you not to repeat it, which means he probably shouldn't have told you in the first place.

I pm'd one of the posters who said they had info, so as to compare my info with his.

It was dead-nuts on. From two DIFFERENT sources who were/are present.

If you're butthurt that you don't know, take yourself down to Buff General and parlay your just deliciously infectious and irresistible personality into some info for yourself.

Dude. I was saying you and several other people on here are claiming to have sources who have told them what the possible condition is. Obviously this makes your statement and all of theirs ironic since they were told yet don't PERSONALLY know Kyle Okposo, nor do the people who told you guys.

If you have a doctor in the hospital who told you, THAT'S (frank)ING ILLEGAL AND HE CAN LOSE HIS JOB and yet you're on here blabbing about it.

I hope the Buffalo News is all over this tomorrow, I can see the headline:

"Internet poster Buffalo--Sabres has a family member who leaked sensitive medical information about a patient to him, we're doing out best to uncover this unethical bastard of a doctor and expose him"

I just said I have no sources.

I never said anyone is lying. Did you never play telephone as a kid in school?

Edit: Plus I have no idea what you know, I might have been told a totally different thing than you. That's the whole (frank)ing point.

Are goalies different? They kept saying they have one call up left. And they used that on Nylander. Or is Lehner or Nilsson hurt and it's an emergency, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that.

I could give two (frank)s about him, honestly. How is that? I'm calling YOU and a couple others out on here for being despicable and petty. Me? I couldn't give two (frank)s about him, seeing as I don't personally know him. Notice I haven't been around inquiring about it and only showed up today to call out on this. So I could care less if people think I'm a Richard or being petty in response. I'm not the one on here going on about my inside information and how bad of a condition it is. You're acting disgusting.

And yeah, I'm going to go to a hospital and ask doctors to break their doctor/patient confidentiality oath. Some people think that's fine and they were the only ones who were told, admitting a family member in the hospital told them. Yet, I'm the idiot.

Morals, people.
