Yeah it's BS. Ritchie wanted to fight him but rozsivial just looked him off. If your gonna do cheap shots to some in the back but aren't man enough to fight someone right in front of you that means your a cheap shot artist. The league would be in the wrong here if it protects rozsivial. If players can't protect there teamates it leads to futher escalation. Fights help releave some of that pent up anger that happens on the ice so that guys don't start swinging sticks at each other. I mean at least Giordano had the guts to fight. - Eman87654
I have to disagree here, and you know I'm a diehard Duck fan. It wasn't a cheap shot to the back, it was a crosscheck. This happens all the time (unlike a knee on knee hit where a major should have been called at least). A penalty was called on the play. Stand back here. Perry was crosschecked, and a penalty was called.
I applaud Ritchie for sticking up for Perry, but if only one participant drops the gloves, that one person doesn't have carte blanche to throw a punch. Ritchie was wrong. Gotta be real here. |

Fake hockey news. You can start with the hit on Hertl if you want. Now that I've given you a start, let's see if you can continue. - yzermaneely
Here is a completely independant analysis of the Hertl hit:

All you have is the knee on Jaden Schwartz and who knows what might have precipated that. |

The Ritchie altercation seemed excessive and the league concurred, as he's been handed a two game suspension that he'll serve through game 1 of the playoffs. An unnecessary loss. Sure tensions are high after the Fowler hit, but lack of composure can't be afforded. Not in this league. Between this punch, along with the Montour and Perry slash ... does this group want Kesler killing penalties all of games one and two again? Keep it up if that's the case.
If you want to split hairs and get mad at me for not being irate at the league for not suspending Giordano than that's fine. I do believe he was at least given a phone call by the league and was probably given a private verbal warning. Ritchie's punch was after the play was dead. Giordano's knee on knee hit was during play. That's a big difference, and the league obviously sees things the same way.
Looks like Kase's going to be Vermette's and Perry's LW on the 12th. |

Skirmishes happen all the time when play is dead. Ritchie was the only one to drop his gloves. Then he threw the haymaker. Can't do that. I get a one game suspension, but 2 seems excessive.
Of course, Rozsival laying on the ice for a few minutes acting like a two ton truck hit him probably didn't help. Coach Q isn't stupid. Let's add to the drama by taking him out of the game. They're already down3-0, so why not rest another player, and play up the "injury." League is a joke. Ritchie gets the same punishment as Marchand. Go figure. I'm sure Chicago is having a good laugh at this. |

Ritchie got his money's worth. Spears happen. Perhaps Marchand got the superstar treatment. Both plays crossed the line, but the only thing that deems severe suspensions these days is contact to the head. One thing I try to keep in mind is Chris Pronger works at the Department of Player Safety, so it's not like someone who hasn't played a Ducks brand of hockey isn't having input when they're throwing around emails when reviewing questionable plays.
Take the Perry hit on Zucker from 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmIrgW4z_hQ. It's hard to argue against intent in this case. While I'm at it, there was the Stajan hit on Perry that I thought could have been avoided: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZlhFEvd8DU. It's easy to look at close calls and point fingers, but leeway is important in order to keep integrity within the sport. |

I see from your spectacular rebuttal that you agree with my assessment of ex skipper brownie - the list is long and distinguished of questionable and dirty brownie hits and then as always his gloves are cemented on and he runs for the refs - that is what makes his hits so despicable he rarely if ever answers for them - |

I just had to come here for this one.
First off, a cross-check IS a dirty play. And potentially serious injuries can result.
Second, Rozsival had a guy obviously coming for him, takes a cross check, stands there with his arms wide open while Ritchie drops his gloves, grabs him by the collar and winds up a punch that Rozsival 100% knew was coming, unless he's a blind idiot with zero brain function.
He literally just stood there and took a haymaker to the face like a moron. Sometimes, you gotta drop your gloves even if the guy coming at you is completely in the wrong. This is called defending yourself.
It wasn't a blind-side, it wasn't a split-second thing and he had just cross-checked a guy, to the back, near the boards. He had a good 15 seconds to prepare for the reaction, especially since Ritchie moves in slow motion. Again, Rozsival literally just stood there like a chump and took a slow-motion haymaker. Honestly one of the most absurdly funny things to happen this season.
I give Ritchie a game misconduct and an ejection at most for this. 2 games without a history of "questionable" play by Ritchie is absurd, IMO. |
