I could give a rats ass what the Devils coach says about the hit. Who gives a flying (frank). Every coach protects their players. Is this news to you?

Instead of focusing on some meaningless garbage, how bout focusing on why the Eastern Conf. doormat continues to beat this team from pillar to post.

I'd venture to say that the Pens could probably have won it all a couple more times if they were healthy. Seems to be the issue with that club.

In other injury related news...very cool to see Clarke MacArthur back and also Craig Cunningham took the ice after having part of his leg amputated

Yes that was my first thought. He fits in well on the PP and also did an admirable job on my fantasy team

While the hit was clearly illegal and deserving of the suspension Prout literally takes like two steps on the ice and glides into Gudas. Prout is moving very slow. He didn't drive thru Gudas or throw an elbow into his head. Which is good because Gudas was in a very vulnerable spot. And that's not my opinion it's what was said in the actual ruling.

So the coach backs up his player and says he's proud because he stood up for his teammate. Really that shocking?

I will agree that Hynes does have a funky looking noggin....

- Queenie_5_hole

You stand up for a teammate by challenging Gudas to a fight, not running into him when he's not expecting any contract because, again, the puck is at the other end of the ice. That's a coward's move.

So far I've listened to both sides who is for the Olympics and who is against it. So far, if you're an American NHL fan, you want nothing to do with the players going to play for their country. You are worried about things like injuries and missing your favorite team play while the NHL takes a break. Canadians however love Olympic Hockey. Team Canada is always dangerous and it basically means more hockey, which is the life source of Canada. I'm canadian. I want more hockey and I want to see the best of the best, which only the NHL has.

At the end of the day, it should be up to the players. The players should have a vote. It sounds like players like Ov, Crosby and Zetterburg want to go. It's a shame McDavid and Matthews won't be apart of it. The choice is out of their hands.

If I was them I would have simply lined up Weal or Konecny.

Goons going after goons is just a waste of time. Not to say that Gudas doesn't provide a lot more to the Flyers, I think he's the #2 on this club.

Meh, is what it is.

I got a chuckle when Tanner told me that nationalism was a dangerous and outdated concept. That we should all embrace a 'one country' notion for the world. I am sure that all those folks with their jobs outsourced, or wages kept stagnant will be so happy by that. What a fool.

At the end of the day, I like hockey. I like the game more than I like the Flyers. The world juniors as an example, was some of the most fun time I have had watching the game itself. NHL fails to realise that while they do have the best collection of talent on earth, there are fans around the globe. Not giving those fans the chance to see 'the best of the best' up against eachother is quite predictable. Although I guess the argument could be made for the World Cup.

yeah. hes come a good way from his days in edmonton, but he was also allowed to play a pretty cushy role for the team. he has been very important don't get me wrong, but he is not going to be able to step into the playoffs as the anchor for 24 minutes a night without getting exposed in a glaring way.

even worse, the trickle down effect is something they cant overcome. rudewhel and streit seeing minutes even in a bottom pairing role are going to be eaten alive.

really looking good for washington to come out of the east now. i would take them over boston. (frank) boston.

So move hockey to the summer Olympics. Nobody will care then because it won't impact the NHL season.

Last night, konecny wasn't helping the team on the ice, in the box, or on the bench
- Just5

He only played 10 minutes and according to many here, 4th liners make no difference to a team, so you can't say he hurt the team on the ice.

He said he had a few challenge him. But he declined.

Also understanding that he still needs to develop more physically to be in the same class as those guys. He's got a good head on his shoulders. Let's keep it clear.

If it were during the offseason sure. But these players have contracts to play for their respective teams. And in any other profession there is no way a company would allow people to leave their job so they could go perform their job for free somewhere else. ESPECIALLY if they had to shut down their whole business to do it.

I've done some research and it seems that every time the Devils beat the Flyers they've scored more goals than the Flyers. The solution is simple.

Do you have like a spread sheet or a pie chart for this? Visual aids might help.

The military does it every day with the reserves. People leave their paid jobs to go and serve their commitment.

I think if enough players say F-it, I am going to play..the NHL is going to have to change their tune. Honestly I don't blame them...To represent your country on the Olympic stage could be one of the highlights of a career...I don't blame a single one of the guys if they walk out and go play. It is their life, I could care less what a contract says...just to stick around for the NHL to make their money off of some regular season games? No thanks...if you are good enough to be on your country's team, then go play.

That's against the players code. I don't think what he did was cowardly because he showed he was more than willing to fight anyone. It was dumb and a cheap shot and the right move was to challenge Gudas to a fight.

Excellent point. The players can take time off and go fight for their countries. I'd be 100% down with that.

Sorry but it isn't even remotely similar to the military. Do those businesses shut down while those reservists leave? No, they don't. Businesses have a legal obligation to allow those reservists to fulfill their service.

Lemme see you try to leave your job for two weeks just because you want to. Go ahead.

Im going to tell my business to shut down for two weeks so I can go and perform my exact same job for another person or business for free. Yeah, Im sure that will fly, especially if I tell them its for my country.
