Again, he is not a good hockey player and could have been removed from the line up at any time. It was more about having a terrible player playing night in and night out without ever being benched.

I don't think the complaining was about VDV specifically. It was more about what he represented. A team that just wasn't good enough.

Some of the complaining came from people on here defending his roster spot.

Anywho, also seems equally fruitless to complain about others complaining about CV. Just sayin.

I agree with your response. I was surprised gudas didn't think somebody was coming after that hit, but he also looked injured/tired, as he was skating off.

To me, it was never the case of him directly being the cause of the team's failings. It was more a case of him being immune from a healthy scratch even though he excels at nothing.

I would be thrilled if Vandevelde's only function was to clean the air that the Flyers breathed.

With VdV, I'm pretty sure you can't pay someone less than what he is paid and be called an NHL player. Only the current AHL callups (Weal, Colin McDonald) make less.

Pittsburgh has quite a few, including 5 guys not on their ELCs (Sestito on the vet. minimum of $575K). But yes, contract-wise, VandeVelde is not an issue. But he was the embodiment of what was wrong with this team due to his teflon status.

So you show me a video of Gudas playing with the lightning a few years ago as justification of Flyers living and dying by the sword. So we are 6th in the league in PIM, but do you know the break down of the penalties? How many times have had tripping penalties. I know we had a good amount of too many men on the ice penalties.

My point is that anyone who tries to justify their player throwing a dirty/needless hit by saying you do it too, is just ignorant.
