It's hockey and it is violent. Gudas has miscalculated a few times. However, he makes a lot of hits during a year that are hard and clean. Prout's hit was all about hurting a player and exacting revenge. No need for it. If he challenged Gudas to a fight I am sure he would have obliged. - mickel25
and that is my point. I don't get retaliating for clean hits and I will say it when the Flyers do it too but at least challenge the player cleanly. Let him see you coming. |

No you're not. You're just pissed someone did it to your team.
You think every guy on the ice is in perfect position to tell if a hit is clean or not? They don't get a video to review before deciding to retaliate. This garbage happens all the time in hockey and the Flyers (Gudas, ironically particularly) are some of the ones who perpetuate it. I'm not defending the hit but holy crap, if you're going to live by the sword you die by the sword.
Frankly, I've always admired the Flyers for their hard play even if it often pushes these boundaries. But its pretty ironic to see everyone now act so indignant. - Queenie_5_hole
Hey Dillweed,
Give us one example of a Flyers throwing a retaliatory hit on an unsuspecting player? Living and dying by the sword (your words) would only make sense if Gudas had been legally hit and injured. |

Flyers coach Dave Hakstol has resigned as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. Although unavailable for comment, it has been rumored that he and the club have decided to part ways due to "Irreconcilavelde differences." |

I, for one, cannot wait for this lineup change to singlehandedly fix the Flyers problems scoring 5 on 5, the PK, the PP, the inconsistent goaltending, the Middle East, Universal Healthcare, etc... |

I think Prout's intent was to fight him (he said so) but Gudas with his head down was to easy a target. The thing is Radko's hit was legal but it shouldn't surprise anyone that there was a retaliation. The retaliation crossed the line and penalties and suspension were issued... and warranted.
In the next sequence Palmeri got run with a late hit which was likely retaliatory as well. Not surprising.
All I'm saying is if you play the game this way this is what happens. We all know it. So I'm just surprised to see so many folks (particularly Flyer fans who generally appreciate the rougher brand of hockey) act indignant about it.

true, but this team will not improve if they roll out same lineup next year. Hopefully some of the youngsters are ready to help.

Gudas does run guys, but he stands up for himself and takes on fights when folks come at him.
If Prout really wanted to fight him and engage Gudas that way, I'm guessing Gudas would have obliged him. Gudas isn't a great fighter, but he's a game one. |

I'm fine with the gudas hit....I'm fine with Prout answering and knowing his role and I'm fine with Simmonds taking the challenge from Prout, who to me, is one of the top fighter in the league. Two games ...kinda has to be in my book...but that's Prout's job. Maybe he could have just challenged him to a fight....but the game moves at a little quicker pace then that....To bad Prout or Gudas aren't in tonight.

From my office window, I can even see the Septa bus drivers driving better and I hear that Schuylkill Expressway traffic is much better since Vandevelde has been scratched.
