to be fair though, thats an unfair standard to expect of the reader/commenter. not that its directed at flyers fans specifically, but more so this site in general isnt exactly a bastion of higher level discussion and dialogue.

anyway, meltzer is a fantastic writer and i love reading his pieces, but he's also in a professional setting. whether a guy totally sucks or not, it would be somewhat unbecoming of a guy in bill's shoes to say those things. i dont know how exactly tied with the flyers he is, but he appears to be close enough where he somewhat loses the right to speak of players in such terms. i think pretty much all of my clients are absolute morons, but I can't exactly address them as such.

again, just making it to the NHL for so much as a single shift shows that any player isn't totally void of talent. however, it doesn't preclude that player from being drastically deficient when compared to even the replacement level caliber of the relative sample size of the league as a whole.

I don't expect anything from anyone. Anyone is free to use the term if they want to as I stated. I choose not to. I think it's more than being in a professional setting. Any informed person in the sport knows that a player in the NHL doesn't suck. It's a fan term widely used by many.

I don't have an exact guy in mind. I don't watch enough hockey to be able to break down which AHL systems work best or which assistants have had a huge positive impact on their team.

To be fair to Hak, the team has looked a lot better lately. They've clearly made more of an effort to get better chances rather than just playing the puck back to the point. I also think the goaltending has been kinda fluky this year.

Might as well just go straight to the shoot out.
