Not much value in your reply here. Perhaps if you offered an actual opinion, we might have something to discuss. - MJL
I've given my opinion on CV over and over. But to be clear, if I was GM he would not be on the team. Hopefully that is clear.
You on the other hand will respond with something vague regarding his role or how the coach trusts him. Or perhaps you will comment on my GM'ing skills. Either way you will not pick a lane. |

So you're not interested in an actual conversation just interested in posting nonsense. I've given an opinion on why I think Vandevelde has remained in the lineup all season including specific details. So if you either can't recall that or are unaware of that, it's not my problem. If and when you're done with BS and want to discuss it, I'd be happy to do so.

BS? Like defending CV being on the team?
OK. For the record. Would you have CV on your team if you are the GM? No other data other than his hockey ability. |

guess what, I don't like when a Flyer player delivers a cheap shot either and readily admit when a suspension is warranted. there is a difference between a hockey play that goes wrong and a flat out cheap shot. there is no place in the game for the play Prout made. I like hard hitting physical games but I don't like cheap poop that hurts players. I'm not good with cheap shots that result in concussions. - nastyflyergirl
I expected Weise to be suspended for his retaliatory hit on Palmieri. And me and the guy who sits beside me at the games said SEE YA! You just got thrown out as soon as that hit happened.
Most of the section we sit in was like what was wrong there.... |

i want to discuss why mcdavid should not win the hart. I'm having lots of internal turmoil about it damn it. half of me realizes im biased but then another half says theres sound reasoning somewhere in there damn it. |

You call it defending it, I don't. The simple reason why a player like Vandevelde is on the team and has remained in the lineup, is for reliability. Hakstol trusts him to play well defensively within the system, to be consistent in his positioning, and to manage the puck. When you have a team that has issues in all of those areas like this team has had all season, a coach values that in a role player. Even if that player is limited talent wise.
As far as your question is concerned, I'm okay with Vandevelde in the short term, but I would like to see the Flyers improve the team in certain areas, and the 4th line is an area where that can be done. Add players who can do all of those things that I mentioned, while having more impact on the offensive side of the game in terms of shot generation and chipping in some more offense.
See isn't this a much better level of conversation? |

If McDavid doesn't win it, it better go to Marchand or Bob/Dubnyk I'm having a tough time choosing which goalie is my third finalist. |

I know this is a totally different can of worms that has been discussed at length before, and i admittedly have no rational explanation or chart for it, but i just cant bring myself to award the hart to a goalie.
that being said, bob has been nothing short of amazing. its an easy nod to him for the vezina over dub/holtby for me.

Other than Lyubimov, none of them were competing with Vandevelde for ice time. - MJL
Read and Wise both played on the 4th line at times this season and they can both play LW, so how were they not in competition for VdV's ice time as the 4th line LW? |

Those guys are really why their teams are in the playoffs though. As much as some would want Crosby to win I'm thinking he's had more help than those guys did. |

Because they were playing in higher roles when not scratched for their bad play? |

They weren't in higher roles when they were scratched while VdV remained in the lineup. There were plenty of times this season Hak could have gone with a 4th line of Read-Bellemare-Weise, he simply chose not to. |

I wouldn't give it to a goalie either, but he can be the team's best player. I think McDavid has the biggest impact of anyone on the ice |

They were scratched for their play being bad. That should have no effect on another player. Each player is evaluated in a vacuum for their play in the role they are seen fit for.

If players were scratched simply for their play being bad, VdV would have been scratched long before today. |

no one can play the role of useless plug (but probably a good guy) quite as good as VDV |

Please see my complete statement. VDV is a fourth line player and is being evaluated as one. Read and Weise were being evaluated against a higher standard. |

The coach has viewed them more as 3rd line players rather than as 4th line role players. Right or wrong. |
