**IF** we were to move someone like Kane for D

Rick Nash and Patrick Sharp both are still generating shots at elite levels and could be short term replacements
Shots per 60/

1. Kane
9. Eichel
10. Sharp
11. Nash

Aging, yes. Still generating offense though

Still seem like unrealistic targets with their no trades...or is sharp's no trade gone now?

I think Sharp is a UFA? He was going to be moved at deadline but was injured

Nash is probably gone too

This is interesting to me. Loved it when the first opened, was happy to have a spot like the pretty close to me. Now their service is horrible, food is god awful, they close at 11. IDK, not a fan at all. Maybe things have changed again and i should give it another chance.

Unless Nash comes at the cost of a 5th or 6th rd pick. I don't see the point.
He'd be a one year rental at this point in which I don't want to give up assets for. I'd rather keep Kane in that scenario.

I think we need to target speed guys. Our bottom six is slow as molasses and the top six isn't much better

Sure but it could be a stop gap while Nylander developed.

You could also re-sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal if he has gas left in the tank.

Still a 20 goal guy that hopefully you could get very cheap.

Agreed. Need Bailey and Baptiste here.

It's astonishing the lack of looks Baptiste got IMO

Serious question.

Why would you pay Nash $8.2Million in cash and take the 7.8cap hit rather than just keeping EKane? who has more points and costs $2.2Million less in cash and nearly $3Million less in cap hit.

To me that feels like a very very very very bad idea.

I am a fan of the New York Beer Project. I will admit I have had bad food and horrible service, though. I prefer the age range of their guests compared to the hipster/millennials stinking up the places near me in Erie County.

Because it's only 1 year. After next year is when 23,15 new deals would kick in.

Hypothetically say Nash scores 20 goals 15 assists next year, and you want him around for another year or so, he hopefully is a 4 mil player at that point, as opposed to a 6-6.5 for Kane. If more you just let him walk.

I believe this idea is poorly considered.

Kane is also only one year, and has better production for less $. The reason Nash would be a $4Mil player after next year is because he wouldn't be very good.

Just like Nash, if you don't like Kane's salary demands, let him go - but trade for value in exchange.

Every single outcome is better with Kane.

This isnt kane for nash though

Its kane for a d-man and then picks for nash.

Ultimately comes down to the production of that d-man

Then just do a Kane for Dman deal.

Broads himself spills gallons of internet ink on telling us why Kane isn't worth his contract - but he's willing to pay Nash more for less? That's wholly unreasonable.

Slant/

I have never once said Kane isn't good enough for his current $$.

He also though, doesn't deserve a 1.5 million increase and a long term deal

Again, this is based on the premise we are adding a D man and have a hole to fill

I live in Clarence so i went a lot when it first opened, and it was awesome. Then things changed and it got bad. Haven't been there in a few months now, so they could have got things back on track. I'll have to give it another shot.

a lot of people are worried about moving kane for a d-man because it creates another hole. This is one of many ways you could address that. Perhaps not everyones ideal scenario.

Unless it is a 5th or later pass.
Nash would strictly be a rental, I'm not giving up 2's or 3's.

Everyone complains that Murray throws around assets like they are nothing, but want to give up picks as in multiple for an aging high priced UFA to be.

not sure giving up 2nd/3rd is the same as moving 1st rounders and prospects already in the system but i understand your point
