As much as I'd feel for Isles fans that team should have been in Quebec two seasons ago. |

Does everyone think Weal has a spot locked up on this team for next season? If he doesn't you really have to question what the management is doing letting him go. He has 8 goals in a limited amount of games played and from what I've seen he could be a 20 goal scorer in this league. I hope they get him signed. |

It would be weird if we saw VDV or Belle opening night and not Weal.
He does have to probably prove himself again next pre-season but I hope he makes it. Goal scoring aside, he has been all over the puck in his time up. |

Hasktol went out of his way to say he trusts him in all 3 zones as a nhl player. I'd be hard pressed to not see him on this roster. I think he is ahead of guys like cousins easily. |

Prout got two games.
Adios, sucka! - Scoob
The videos shows the hit was to the chest, but it was still incredibly dangerous because Gudas had no idea it was coming.
https://www.nhl.com/news/...c-288394930?tid=277549076
Not only is Gudas not in possession of the puck, the puck is in the possession of a Devils defenseman almost the full length of the ice away. Gudas is fatigued and skating to the bench for a line change with his head down. No reasonable player should expect to be hit at this time in any fashion.
Prout comes off the bench, makes no attempt to join the play in any manner, and instead targets a vulnerable player for the sole purpose of exacting retribution for an earlier play. And while the hit itself is not incredibly violent, the fact that Gudas is in no way prepared for a hit of any kind, makes any type of body contact dangerous. |

Agreed. It's almost as if his time in the AHL benefited him. |

I agree but he does seem to have a knack for scoring goals and that's something this team desperately lacks , so not resigning him would be a questionable move just in terms of that alone. For a smaller guy he is really great on the forecheck, you can tell he's giving it his all out there every shift and we need more players like that. Reminds me of Briere a bit. Not to mention I think he's better defensively then Bellemare, really don't get the love this organization has for him, guy is average at best. |

He's hard on the puck in his own zone and more often than not makes the safe smart play from what I've seen. Like I said if they don't sign him it'd be a dumb move I could see him go to another team and really produce for them. |

It was a scummy move from a scummy player and organization. Shero brought his goon show to Newark only without any the talent he had in Pittsburgh |

As long as he keeps the energy going.

As do I, he should have the motivation to do so though, probably his last chance to show he can be an NHL'er if the Flyers do resign him. |

I also like what I've seen from C MacDonald. Limited time of course but he's more physical than VDV or Belle. |

With Weal potentially being resigned that leaves the Flyers with a lot of forwards going into next season, would have to think someone is on the move. Just off the top of my head they'd have:
Voracek
Giroux
Simmonds
Schenn
Couturier
Konecny
Filpula
Weal
Bellemare
Raffl
Read
Weise
Cousins
Vecchione
Laughton
Leier
Lindblom
All those guys potentially competing for spots seems a little crowded, gotta get rid of someone. |

Mcdonald is an all around classy hard working player. But I think his value as the phantoms captain and mentor is infinitely more in the ahl than it'll ever be again in the nhl. I also think he likes the less grueling ahl travel schedule. I could see him resign again to Captain the phantoms |

Laughton will be in the ahl. Leier will be waived and probably unclaimed if we resign in the first place. It's really not that crowded. Lindblom has not guaranteed he'd be over and could be in the ahl no problem. Somebody still has to get taken in draft could be one of them.

As do I, definitely plays with an edge and that's something the Flyers fourth line has been lacking for a while now. If they don't start him on the 4th line next season which I doubt they will, wouldn't mind seeing them go after a Reaves or Roussel type player, both can be very useful in their roles. |

Personally I'd give Leier and Laughton shots in the NHL before having Bellemare and Read or Raffl on the team next season. Its not like having those three on the bottom two lines for the last two years has really produced much success. Why not give the younger guys a shot, its working for Toronto. |

Putting leier and Laughton in the realm with Nylander and Matthew's is cruel and unusual punishment. These 2 are simply nowhere near as talented. Bellemare read raffl are solid nhl players who contribute in different ways. They aren't blocking anybody with their contracts. If leir Laughton are better they will play. I don't find either to be in our long term future atm |

I'm not putting them in that class, the Leafs have several rookies playing depth roles right now. Think Hyman, Connor Brown, Soshnikov etc. Sure Bellemare and Read are decent defensively but on the offensive side of things they don't contribute much of anything. I just think Laughton and Leier would add speed too the bottom two lines and that's what you need to win in today's NHL. I liked what I saw from Leier when he was called up earlier this year, worked hard on the forecheck, was really speedy, and he plays on the pk in the AHL, so why not give him a shot on the fourth line. |

Thats because you've got this generation's Lappy/Betts in Bellemare/VDV on the club. Core players, and important cogs to the PK machine. Jesus Christ. The turd twins somehow found a home, no idea how. |

Lappy and Betts actually had a clue when it came to pk'ing, VDV and Bellemare are a joke compared to those two. All I'm saying is the foruth line as it is now isn't exactly contributing for this team how I would want it too. I agree with you though time to give some of the young guys a chance, might as well, its not like they're winning with whatever they are trying now haha. |

and like I said....it would have been nice to see it this year instead of having Simmonds, our top goal scorer do it. I give credit to a kid like Manning, He's not very good at it but at least he showed up. - landros 2
Who the (frank) cares that Simmonds fights. he can do what he wants because he can. He's the toughest (frank)er in the league. There's no hole in the lineup because we don't have an enforcer. Welcome to the year 2007+.
There's a hole in the lineup because we have 4 guys putting up 50 points and no one putting up 60. And by hole, I mean holes.
EDIT: Also complaining about Simmonds breaking his hand while fighting is like yelling at your kid for swimming in the ocean because he'll get attacked by a shark. Common things being common; uncommon things being uncommon. |

I have no issues with Simmonds fighting, what does he get into maybe a max 7-10 fights a season and that number is even pushing it.
