I'd say more like 1.5. If they miss again next year, and get off to a bad start in 18-19, I think that would be it for Hak. - BiggE

I still think Hak was brought in to "develop the kids" I don't think he gets fired before he gets to work with most of them. I think the development of provorov tk lindblom goalies and the d at the nhl level will determine his leash. Provorov was the top all around d men in the nhl. Tk a top 20 rookie forward during a year with insane depth of rookies. Time will tell how that continues.
Edit: top all around Rookie defenseman |

If they could merge Sanheim's skating and skill with Morin's build and disposition, it would be a sight to see! - BiggE
Sign that kid up! I'd say that would be the next Chris Pronger! |

Kinda why I said he gets 2 full season more. We'll see some kids each season and if it collapses then he's toast. |

Provorov was scary good this season. Very subtle, but very good. You saw him start to let that creative side out more as the season went on - and he got more confidence.
Disturbing, and wonderful that a kid was able to come in and basically show us just how poopty the rest of the D core was. He should be the MVP for this club. Im excited to see what Morin/Hagg/Sanheim/Myers can do. Unlikely all get up with the big club next season. |

I think you see 3 to 4 rookies in the nhl each of the next 2 years. I do think an outside factor of some of hextall patience is knowing there will be another expansion between now and 2020. League wants 32 teams. Bringing up all the kids and than having to lose one in 2 seasons would be horrible. If we can milk some these guys development we will. I don't think that's the only reason. Just an outside factor on some these guys. |

Assuming no huge changes for next season, can we assume something like?
Lindblom-Giroux-Voracek
bSchenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Raffl-Fil-Konecny
VDV-Belle-Weise
Provorov-Mac
Ghost-Gudas
Hagg/Morin/Manning?

I'm going to let myself dream a little and say the club should hopefully be set on D going forward, and perhaps goaltending.
The biggest issue going into the future is finding those star forwards. |

Hah, predictable. Greed, greed, and more greed. I enjoy hockey and I enjoy the olympics as its the best collection of talent. Instead of watching 4th line scrubs in the name of parity.
Shall enjoy the drama with some players rightfully wanting to go. |

I have the hateyist of hate for stopping the season in the middle for the Olympics.

It's not at all uncommon for one coach to be involved in the development of a team to contender status, then when a bump in the road happens, a coaching change is made, and another coach reaps the benefits. |

Kind of the way I see it. I think they'll give him the opportunity to develop the kids and if he can't win the "big games" when we have the roster for it they will move on. |

I've made the statement many times that I believe Hakstol is a very good hockey coach. It remains to be seen how good of an NHL coach he is going to be. He needs more bullets in the chamber before we can even begin to evaluate that fairly. |

Our roster isn't even a quarter of the way built for his system. I know everyone hates the word patience but since there are no miracle fixes and we have to wait on the youngsters I'll have it with him. When we have the talent if we still don't compete than you bring in randy Carlyle right? |
