haven't seen if the contract starts this season or next.

EDIT: Still waiting to hear whether he will join the Flyers and play for them this season. It is expected that the first year of his entry-level deal will be burned off.

- nastyflyergirl

he is 24 so 1 year

I would imagine it starts next year
- YuenglingJagr

I don't think they would have got him without agreeing to burn the year this season, but we'll know soon.

Flyers fans need to be realistic about scoring expectations for Vecchione in NHL but he is pretty clearly an NHL player. Fine signing.

its funny how, if you are a college player and prove to have talent, you are better off not being drafted

BSH mentions Flyers this year if there is some agreement to extend after this year burns his ELC.

I saw a guy on twitter saying the agreement for his 2 year- RFA deal is already in place. Not sure if he has inside knowledge, but it makes sense.

The birthday things are one of the most confusing since it changes so much. If it was a 1 year deal that would kick in immediately (as in starts playing in the NHL) I am not really sure why he would've picked the Flyers when he could be playing in the playoffs

He's an intriguing prospect to say the least. Not the tallest guy out there at 5'10, but at 195 lbs he's solidly built along the same lines as Mark Recchi was. I've only seen some clips and read a few scouting reports, but all scouts seem to agree that he has good wheels, above average hockey sense, is hard to knock off the puck, and possesses good hands and plays a smart game. I can see him starting on the 4th line next year and perhaps being used on the PK as well.

Yeah but what about Morin?

I just made the mistake of looking at the three players selected directly after him.

Nothing to do with homework. My question was a reasonable question based on the statement you made and was one that I know that you couldn't answer even if you wanted to. . Even the best hockey system in the world needs to be executed.

That is how you feel about it, but I feel differently. It isn't just my desire as a fan. It is what I think could happen based on watching their players. You mention it happening naturally, but I think it is actually the opposite. They are preventing it from happening naturally, and they are doing it because they're pretending to be competing for the second wild card spot.
- YuenglingJagr

They aren't pretending to do anything. It is absurd to suggest that Hextall is keeping young players back for the sole purpose of pretending to compete for a wild card spot. Hextall added two 19 year old players to the team this year. At best he can be accused of being slightly cautious with the development of some young players.
