for what its worth:

EliteProspects.com describes him as: "A strong and speedy two-way transition winger who possesses good puck and passing skills, and is equally adept at finishing plays as he is creating them. All-in-all, an offensively minded two-way winger that can produce strong numbers due to his patience and responsibility in all three zones."

- nastyflyergirl

So Flyers listed him at C at the top of that posting then at the bottom Elite Prospects have him as a winger...

Hoorah. At the very least, it's one more reason not to bring back Vandevelde!

Don't know if the kid is will be anything but I am always psyched to see them sign undrafted kids cause you never know and it cost you nothing but a contract.

Depth is good if you don't like marginal players in the lineup every night. There's now a very long list of forwards who are signed for 16-17, or are non waiver -exempt RFAs. Plus Lindblom and Weal who are very likely to sign.

1. Giroux
2. Voracek
3. Schenn
4. Filppula
5. Couturier
6. Simmonds
7. Read
8. Weise
9. Raffl
10. Bellemare
11. Weal
12. Vecchione
13. Lindblom
14. Konecny
15. Cousins
16. Laughton
17. Leier

He was a center for Union. But he may end up on the wing in the NHL, like Weal.

It's a mystery.

All kidding aside, it doesn't really matter at this point. Gagne was drafted as a center and spent his career as a LW, Giroux was drafted as a RW and has played center pretty much his whole pro career. These things change.

Now if they listed him as a goaltender, then I would be concerned.

I think we have to accept the fact that the Flyers are going to always try to put the best team on the ice they can, and to try to win, without violating their long term plan. Fans just want to see young players up with the team, even if they aren't ready to make the jump, and even if they aren't better than the players currently playing on the team are. A lot of it is assumptions. Weal is playing really well, and hopefully this is the result of a late bloomer and not just a hot streak. I wouldn't expect him to continue to score goals at this pace, but there are plenty of other positives to his game other than just the goal scoring. I want an overturn of the roster and a move to younger more talented players also, but I want it to happen naturally and with the correct timing and handling of those younger players, rather than just have they brought up and possibly rushed just to serve my wants as a fan.
- MJL

That is how you feel about it, but I feel differently. It isn't just my desire as a fan. It is what I think could happen based on watching their players. You mention it happening naturally, but I think it is actually the opposite. They are preventing it from happening naturally, and they are doing it because they're pretending to be competing for the second wild card spot.

haven't seen if the contract starts this season or next.

EDIT: Still waiting to hear whether he will join the Flyers and play for them this season. It is expected that the first year of his entry-level deal will be burned off.

Could be the next Tyler Johnson, Ben Holmstrom, or Mike Testwuide. Never know until you try.

He's not consistently good at nothing enough to be that awesome.
