With this d core and forward group, 6 years is about right.

IF....they get lucky and draft a few more kids like Horvat. Kids that continue to get better and grow as players.

If not, they'll be the Oilers, a mismanaged hockey club with no idea how to draft.

That's not happening, if anything the stability in management alone will make them better, quicker.

Stability doesn't out-weigh intelligence. The Oilers were stable with Lowe and MacT running things.....into the ground.

Our defence stinks

"Some thought this would be a breakout year for Hutton, but of the 189 defencemen who’ve played at least 500 even-strength minutes, Hutton is 182nd in even-strength point rate. Tanev is 184th, but you don’t expect much from him."

"Maybe most troubling is Nikita Tryamkin, who hit the figurative rookie wall. In his first two months, he was actually one of the Canucks’ best defencemen and consistently the Canucks controlled possession when he was on the ice or at least broke even.

Times have changed, however, and since the deadline only Luca Sbisa has a worse even-strength, shot-attempt differential than Tryamkin’s 42.96 per cent. It’s possible he never fully recovered after missing weeks with the mumps. What’s not possible is expecting any of these young defencemen to be top-pairing players in the NHL.

At least, not any time soon.

And with Edler’s age and Tanev’s mounting injury history, that is a disconcerting reality."

I don't think it's a sign they have to blow things up, but rather, they have a long ways to go....which is perfectly fine. Patience!

It's German now laced with Putiin's strange brew. Clarity is a nut cracker and the insight is staggering

I think I do, I didn't see the comment that Makita was in Germany. I thought he was still hiding in Ontario somewhere.

Remember when Canucks gave away Grabner and Florida waived him to start the season. He went to Islanders and lit it up for years. Still producing for Rangers this season.

You never know with these kids that got sidetracked. Someone's scraps can be steak and lobster.

I don't think anybody is denying that another coach can do better with the team, merely that blaming our position on coaching is laughable.

Hansen's production in SJ mirrors his production here. Burrows scored 3 goals in his first two games, not much since.

Yep well said.

Burrows and Hansen have cooled off to reality. Plus if you look at the success Sullivan, AV, Torts and even Gully has to an extent with other clubs after they have left our 'deep' roster here. They have rosters to work with. Expecting Willie to pull a rabbit out of his ass here in the Country Club environment and a 2/3rds AHL roster is well...not sharp.

Just watched the Prince George/Portland highlights.

Caleb Jones looks good. (frank)en Edmonton.

Tate Olson was deked out so hard he fell over

Popaguev wasn't noticeable till he scored a slick goal. Sick hands.

careful, stats and facts and being realistic doesn't fly well here with some, especially to do with WD

It's the NHL not the CHL. WD can go to where he belongs.

One thing to look at is we at least have some young players/prospect depth in various position which helps.

When edmonton was bad they had nothing other than eberle who is most overrated player in the nhl. I dont think they have a draft pick on the team who they didnt take in the 1st round even today after like 7 years.
