45 goal scorer Reid Boucher? - A_SteamingLombardi
62 goals in 68 games in his final OHL season...imagine the posts here if he was drafted by the Canucks back then. |

Remember when Canucks gave away Grabner and Florida waived him to start the season. He went to Islanders and lit it up for years. Still producing for Rangers this season.
You never know with these kids that got sidetracked. Someone's scraps can be steak and lobster. |

Most of the team is low level players, there's only so much he can do. - golfingsince
That's a cop out. Plus look at the undervaluing of players like Burrows and Hansen. They seem to be doing fine elsewhere. It's not as bad as you make it out.
Denying possibility that someone else can do better with this group sounds like a burying head in the sand outlook. |

As long as they hire the right consultant it doesn't matter where they pick. |

If Mittelstadt isn't available when we pick, Pettersson will be... so I'm not worried. |

Can you list the 31 NHL head coaches with their respective team?
I'm not quite sure who they are, thanks. |

yep its called the sh*t job he's done here. - SMBDragon
Respectfully you also refuse to acknowledge some of the good that WD has done here. Like getting a non-PO team in the playoffs with 101 pts and instrumental in the development of Horvat, Baertchi, Granlund, Tree and Stecher. Not a small task. Now Boucher a scrap player seems to be a scorer under WD. It's not Willie's fault the Sedins are running the show here.
But I agree he has been outclassed and out coached at times but as a rookie coach three seasons ago there will always be learning curves. Something we have to deal with.
There is ZERO point in spending millions for a top level coach with this roster for next season. Let it happen in 2018/19 if need be.
There could be a very good chance that ownership/MNGT is looking to let WD have a go with Boeser/Juolevi next season which would be fine if required.
We get your bias towards WD…but you really need to see it from all angles my friend. |

My current top 5(subject to change as I watch these guys play more)
1. Nolan Patrick(injuries worry me, but otherwise he's still my #1)
2. Nico Hischier
3. Gabe Viliardi(had him at 5 or 6 until watching him play more this month)
T-4. Casey Mittelstadt
T-4. Martin Necas(no hype for such a good prospect)
Makar probably at 6. I'd have Pettersson more towards the 8-10 range right now. |

Afternoon everyone, already 22 degrees here at 3pm, I'm in Rothenburg Germany, back on the island on Monday.
Just wanted to say what a great job Willie is doing with the prospects and AHL fodder the team is made up of... |

Our defence stinks
"Some thought this would be a breakout year for Hutton, but of the 189 defencemen who’ve played at least 500 even-strength minutes, Hutton is 182nd in even-strength point rate. Tanev is 184th, but you don’t expect much from him."
"Maybe most troubling is Nikita Tryamkin, who hit the figurative rookie wall. In his first two months, he was actually one of the Canucks’ best defencemen and consistently the Canucks controlled possession when he was on the ice or at least broke even.
Times have changed, however, and since the deadline only Luca Sbisa has a worse even-strength, shot-attempt differential than Tryamkin’s 42.96 per cent. It’s possible he never fully recovered after missing weeks with the mumps. What’s not possible is expecting any of these young defencemen to be top-pairing players in the NHL.
At least, not any time soon.
And with Edler’s age and Tanev’s mounting injury history, that is a disconcerting reality."

Virtanen was one of the youngest in his draft class too - Nucker101
Big difference....Virtanen doesn't think the game very well. Vilardi does, by all indications anyways. |

So you're saying that the defence is solid and the team only needs a 1C and1D and it's SC time |

With this d core and forward group, 6 years is about right. |
