apparently we arent allowed our own views or opinions here

theres a few of us here that had Laine the clear #1 despite the scouts....now theres not many who in hindsight wouldnt take him #1

- SMBDragon

Most would still take him #2. There's really no evidence to the contrary.

Matthews has more points, goals, plays a tougher position.

theres been articles in sports pages including tsn that said most GMs now would take laine 1oa.
Many posters here have also commented the same since. Seems the majority

players are not responsible for his deployment issues or questionable love for certain low level players now are they?

You should provide a links for this BS.

Also, what posters here think really has no bearing on the matter. Aside from the fact most were pissed when we didn't take Shinkaruk at 9 overall over Horvat, there's a TO bias.

Matthews is about to lead his team to the playoffs as a rookie. Laine can't even lead his line in scoring. Maybe it's not as clear cut as you suggest, or it's clear cut the other way.

I've been an anti-leaf my entire life, but what you're saying has no factual basis.

At this point I think the Leafs chose wisely. Great (frank)ing consolation prize

No doubt. However, getting a 1C is about as important a building block as there is. 1D is debatable......

Agreed. I'll still take Matthews, but both of them are franchise players.

that still does not mean he should make dumb coaching choices repeatedly now does it?!
If its a crap roster you do your best to try to get better results and look great over achieving. Not screwing up further what is already bad.

Guessing 3rd-4th round(maybe late 2nd if someone loves him). His start to the playoffs will help his stock for sure.

Hard to predict with mid rounders, some guys that are ranked in the 3rd round don't get drafted until the 7th sometimes.
