I say the same thing about hickey. At least Mayfield has potential and his game and skating has drastically improved over the last season imo. - Cptmjl
what I like about Mayfield is he has some MEAN to his game. Against the Flyers that's good. But perhaps they banking on us getting a lot of PPs we don't score on.

No he doesn't
He gets bowled over or the shit kicked out of him every single night.

I think you're giving them too much credit for thinking in the first place. There's little rhyme or reason to anything that they do. Trying to understand the logic in personnel decisions for the Islanders is like trying to reason with an inanimate object.

Can't teach size but he fought last year and got smoked

I don't care about his fighting record really. He has been moving the puck up the ice better than everyone not named Leddy on the team for a while now. He also is the only defenseman that plays the body on the entire team since Boychuck has been out.
Besides the Tanner Glass fight (which good for him on btw) I haven't seen that? - Cptmjl
Every time I've seen him fight he's been the clear loser or close to it. With the exception of Miles Wood on the Devils, who's significantly shorter than him. I've also seen him take enough hits where he ends up on his ass that I really start to question how "tough" he actually is.
I know you don't care about fights, but in the interest of providing evidence:
Here he gets in one good punch against a much smaller JT Brown and then proceeds to get speedbagged for the rest of the fight

I wasn't only referring to fighting. He plays a little more of a physical game than anyone else on the team. I mean I certainly wouldn't mind if he kicked the shat out of someone but I'm more interested in the rest of his game more than anything else. As far as that's concerned I think he has made some strides in the last season.
Edit;
Even though I literally referred to fighting in my post I wasn't referring to only fighting
Noel seriously wtf! you can put in a video for Boys Meets Girl for the waiting for the stars to fall blog but nothing with a title of Dire Straits? This is as disappointing as the isles........just feel shame

Let's not forget that the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council banned this song from the radio in 2011, after someone in Newfoundland became offended.

He doesnt have to win as long as he's willing to drop em and be physical

My mistake for not reading your mind. Crystal ball has been on the fritz lately.
He can still grow into a decent fighter but not impressed at all early on - Vukota
I truthfully don't care if he spends his entire career, however long or short that may be, getting his face punch-e-sized...but for someone who I thought was supposed to be some big, tough imposing defenseman he sure looks like a paper tiger to me.
I don't care enough to go find which games they happened in, but he had two games very recently where he lobbed some half-assed clearing attempt up the boards, turned it over, and both instances resulted in goals against.
He had a nice little run, for me, where he exceeded expectations but I'm pretty much wholly convinced that that is over.

If he is playing everyday that's not a good thing for this team

so I guess its his fault he 6'3. Btw, Matt Martin fought Tanner Glass too and didn't do much either. Mayfield is still young. We don't have anyone that is Mean on our team.

I was going to go back and tack a sentence on the end saying "But it doesn't matter because he'll be leapfrogged on the depth chart soon enough" but I just assumed the only response would have been "no because BPT needs to make the playoffs".

It was the first time they had received a letter in 30+ years of operation.
