I think it all boils down to the fact that Doughty runs his mouth every single game and never backs it up
Anyway enjoy 9th place
Flames got suckered into playing the Kings game....should have got the speed game going and ran all over their slow asses like usual
lesson learned
Flames have won 2 of 3 so far against the Kings down the stretch here, Kings needed the sweep so...whatever |

Should have why though? What should he have answered for? - Jeffmt
Going to the media to female dog about a player after the game was done. He was just deflecting from the fact that he and his team underachieved all year long and will most likely be missing the playoffs once again this year.
If he (or the Kings) had that much of an issue with the elbow they should have dealt with it that night. Instead he chose to wait until after the game and drag a rookies reputation through the mud because he and his teammates didn't have the stones to say anything to Tkachuk's face. |

Doughty said what he said, and the media blew it up. What I don't understand is why Flames fans get so upset about Doughty calling Tkachuk dirty (which isn't unfounded based on his play in juniors and so far in the NHL) but didn't get mad at Davidson for doing the same thing after the slewfoot Tkachuk threw. If it wasn't a big deal when Davidson did it, why is it now when Doughty did it? - PancakesPenner
Because nobody knows (or cares) who the (frank) Davidson is? Drew Doughty is one of the top players in the NHL. He knows that whatever he says will become headline news.
When he makes those comments people notice; even though Tkachuk has been much better since the Davidson incident (he had like 2 PIMs in the previous 20 games) the "dirty player" label will start to stick to him and he will get the benefit of the doubt less and less. |

This argument is silly.
I love that Engelland skated over Clifford during warm-ups. We talk sometimes about this team not sticking up for one another but Engs did last night. I hope he takes a pay cut and sticks around. Props to Brouwer and Ferland for skating over too. They look like they're finally sticking up for each other and is just this season summed up in a nut shell. They've grown tremendously and except for this poop show that was last night, have been one of the best teams in the league because of they're progression.
Also, Doughty is a cry-baby, Tkachuk is a douchebag and the dirtiest player in the league, and we still love Jarome. |

So now you are blaming others for what the kid brought on himself?
Seriously?
Play a clean hard game and don't cross the line too much, and he has nothing to worry about. |

For all the people taking such an old school stance on this, and taking about unwritten codes, and about how Doughty shouldn't have said anything about it in the media, don't you have an issue with a rookie elbowing an all-star veteran in the face? Doesn't the "code" have anything to say about that?
He's such a good player, he doesn't need to do this stuff. All these cheap shots and starting feuds with star players isn't going to do anything positive for the Flames. It's a big distraction that the team doesn't need and he personally doesn't need.
That was an entertaining game, no doubt, but if it wasn't for all the extra distractions does anyone think Calgary might have played a much better game? |

You're acting like Doughty called a press conference and had a tear-filled rant. He's a star player and gets asked tons of questions after every game. That game he got asked about the hit and he said what he said, which was much more mild than most people are making it out to be. |

Yep but better now than in game 7 of a playoff round.

Yeah, absolutely. This is the kind of stuff that could derail a whole series though if it's allowed to get out of hand.
I like Calgary, I want them to do well in the playoffs. And most nights Tkachuk is going to help a lot more than he hinders. He's been doing stupid stuff like this since junior though and he has a habit of pouring gasoline on his own fires. I hope he doesn't cost them Flames in a game that really counts. |

He's his fathers son for sure... Reminds me of Marchand that little poop.
Nah I suspect Gully had a little chat with him and the team after that game and told them what allowing your emotions to run amuck will do. |

On a side note... no one has made mention of that condescending ass-wipe of a mayor we have declaring that CalgaryNext is dead...
Gee Plan B is Victoria Park... Who owns all the land in Victoria Park? I'm sure the Stampede Board has nothing to do with his worships public statement.
Arrogant ass.

Can't stand the purple wiener. Talks out his ass half the time and costs tax payer's money to pay his legal bills for getting sued. That said, Ken King brought a half baked plan and threw in a stadium for the Stamps. Someone else is needed on both sides. |

If I were an LA fan i'd be happy. Finally something woke them up..too bad for LA it wasn't a couple months ago. That and Iggy's last night in the Dome and they were not to be denied. |

If Sutter would have called up Brodz, Kempe and LaDue in the first thirty games and let them get solid minutes they would have thirty plus games under their belts and maybe possibly might be contributing in the areas that made us slip out of the picture, its possible but not certain.
Then last night Sutter puts in some sand paper and jogs the lines around a bit, on paper that line up doesn't give me a lot of confidence, but it sure got the job done last night
Iggy has been way better than I thought he would be, pleasant surprise |

I feel like everyone here is perfectly happy with the Dome. Would be cool if we didn't build anything new and just enjoyed what we have.
I say we build it by the airport, justify extending the C-Train out there (the fact that we don't have that is messed up) , and have some insane train rides to and from every game.
It would be like having the Red Mile all packed into a several train cars. |

Yeah, where the (frank) was the instigator with that fight? He just started wailing on him out of nowhere. Was at that game. |
