Iggy isn't a fighter? He's not a goon but for a skill player he's got a lot of career fights. Malkin fought because HE WAS THE ONE WHO DELIVERED THE HIT TO THE HEAD. I don't understand why people keep bringing that up as a comparable. He didn't fight because he ran his mouth, dude barely speaks english.

Fighting isn't part of Doughty's game and he shouldn't have to do it just because Tkachuk threw a bad elbow and then had his feelings hurt.

Those are the type of games you want to watch. Intensity from the beginning was awesome.

Malkin delivered the dirty hit so he had to fight. Just like when Claude Lemieux had to fight Darren McCarty for his dirty hit on Draper.

Why would Doughty have to fight Tkachuk? Makes no sense. Let the cement heads take care of that. Now if it was Doughty that delivered the dirty hit I would expect him to answer the bell.

Last night marked his 72nd career fight. Not an enforcer by any means, but definitely is familiar with droppin em.

Iggy is respected because he does what needs to be done. Thats the difference. I don't expect Doughty to fight, he's not that player. But if you choose to be a Richard and call out someone outside the rink, he should be prepared to answer for it. Thats the only point.

Your just a straight up idiot, maybe cause your a Leafs fan we have to drill it into your head(maybe an elbow would work). If it was you and you had a rookie cheap shot you with an elbow, would you not want to be the one to get your revenge on him? Rather than letting your boyfriends do it for you. If Doughty would have manned up and did it himself, no one here would be putting him down. He lost respect and that's the point people are making.

Time and place. Hell even Gretzky fought (once)..well sort of did. I think if thats Kopitar in Doughty's spot mouthing off nothing is noted. Doughty is one of those guys, like Burrows, other than Doughty being one of the games best D-man. I love Doughty's game but hate his BS. I think thats the point.

And why does size matter? If you want a guy to "man up" and "fight his own battles" it shouldn't matter what size you are. Is Iginla anywhere near Engelland's size? Why didn't McDavid fight Brandon Manning since they're the same size? I'm guessing Doughty didn't want to fight because he's more valuable playing than getting tossed from the game like Andreoff was.

If you want to say Doughty runs his mouth "every game" then I can't agree or disagree, I don't check the news for Drew Doughty after every Kings' game.

You can wear the red and yellow glasses all you want, but it was a Richard move by Tkachuk. Not saying he's inherently dirty, but it was a stupid play.

By the way, totally pulling for both the Flames and Preds in the playoffs this year.

I completely agree doughty didn't need to fight! And as much as i like tkachuk he got too cought up in the moment and really was off his game. in turn so was the whole team! Live and learn!! The almost open ice hit could have been devistating for the flames if tkachuk got hurt on that play!! One of the best skaters in the league all the sudden conviningtly looses an edge. Imo that is just if not more dirtier then an elbow to the face!

If it happens in a game then that's fine, it happens all the time and players settle it. You ever heard of what happens in the room stays in the room? in case you haven't its a code that goes with hockey. Doughty made it public, if he wanted to go public he should have seen it through to the end.

Doughty said what he said, and the media blew it up. What I don't understand is why Flames fans get so upset about Doughty calling Tkachuk dirty (which isn't unfounded based on his play in juniors and so far in the NHL) but didn't get mad at Davidson for doing the same thing after the slewfoot Tkachuk threw. If it wasn't a big deal when Davidson did it, why is it now when Doughty did it?
