Could Vegas take Miller with their 3rd overall pick in the draft? - Marwood
Hop, skip and a jump to Cali from there.
Miller has been the only reason the Canucks arent in the cellar this year.
Which is exactly why I dont want him back next year |

as much as i'd love to see another 3 hour discussion b/w you and nuckFU:
iii) One goaltender who is under contract in 2017-18 or will be a restricted free agent at the expiration of his current contract immediately prior to 2017-18. If the club elects to make a restricted free agent goaltender available in order to meet this requirement, that goaltender must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the club's protected list.

What does this have to do with Miller being an option at the expansion draft? He's not under contract for 17/18 nor is he a pending restricted free agent. |

Their contracts actually end after the regular season, they don't get paid during the playoffs. But I'm certain it's June 1st or 15th.....at the airport so I'm not gonna look it up. - LeftCoaster
Hmmm makes no sense to me...if that was the case why is free agency on July 1st....getting paid is based on the regular season. But they are still team property up till July 1st. I think the reason Miller doesn't qualify is simply because he is a UFA July 1. I seem to remeber reading someplace that Vegas can select UFA's....and that if they sign with Vegas they count as the selection from the team they left. But not 100 percent on that one |

I'm trying to read while bouncing around in the back of a cab but I think you're right in that he's still Canucks property but he doest meet the requirements because of his pending UFA status.
So you were right, I was half right and what do ya know Nuck4U was totally wrong....again.

Will someone please explain to NuckFU how the expansion draft works and that Miller won't be available to Vegas (via expansion draft) because he'll be a UFA when it takes place.
They can sign him as a UFA though. - LeftCoaster

If nhl contracts ended June first...how do they keep playing for the Stanley Cup in June if no one is under contract? Was always my understanding the players are still under contract till July 1st ...hence free agency - Bullfrog77
I believe they do end July 1 but Vegas has a chance to talk to them and can sign them earlier because of the expansion draft |

I think this is correct. If Miller chooses to sign with Vegas prior to the expansion draft then the rest of our roster isn't exposed. But NUCK4U is wrong as they can't select a pending UFA. |

Can you please tell Lefty that Vegas owns the 3rd highest odds for the draft and the best we can do is 4th? Thanks in advance |

He is not. It was NOT based on who qualifies for Vegas minimal qualifications which you went too. LeftyFU challenged whether Vegas can take Miller in the expansion draft. Vegas can pick ANYONE not Protected or Exempt and are NOT limited to the minimal exposure list of one goalie, 2 forwards and a defender. They have a pre draft negotiating period for UFA's and can sign them. Thus counting as their pick from that team for expansion. Got that RealityFU. |
