That would be totally reasonable if the agreed upon punishment was possible. The punishment was to be a healthy scratch and that wasn't possible because of the roster rules. Bylsma should have modified the rules to fit the situation. Clearly Bylsma didn't see the irony in bending their own rules for punishment

If Kyle wasn't sick he would have played in Sam would have been in the Press Box they had no other options

Why should he bend the rules? So Sam next game can be in the Players Lounge and learn his lesson

And who knows maybe TM is the one that made him punish him

Again this is getting so Billsy. Who's responsible for benching Tyrod Taylor in week 17? I don't know. The man behind the grassy knoll for all we know. It's ridiculous and this laundry should never have been aired in public.

Edit: Sam was a even in +/- last night. Better than some guys on the team.

Bylsma broke the rule regarding punishment. If he couldn't apply the proper punishment, he should have applied it Sunday instead

I need to hear that they couldn't get anyone to Columbus in time. If we had the option of benching him and not playing down a man then we should have. Playoffs or not, Bylsma needs to get wins. Benching Reinhart is fine if there's no replacement...tough situation but you brought it upon yourself. If they could have gotten a replacement into Columbus in time, then this is insulting and really weird.

As per usual, need to know details we may never find out.

They had no choice I know people are going to say well they should have just benched him next game .. but maybe some of the vet players would be pissed off because they're getting treated differently

So Sam could be in the Players Lounge and be free and have his food buffet and chill with his friends that's a punishment

It said the punishment was increased so obviously he did this more than once

the punishment is supposed to be a healthy scratch. Don't you see the irony and hypocrisy in the Sabres brass's bending of the rules of punishment?

its all explained quite concisely here and it makes perfect sense.
The only other option would be to play him in Cbus and scratch him Thursday.
And it sounds like it would have been really bad timing to do that considering that Murray just laid down the new rules less than 24 hours before it happened.

Obviously? You must know more details than the rest of us, otherwise, that is nothing more than an inference.

Well they couldn't do anything they needed to dress 18 skaters or they would be violating the CBA

What do you want them to do wait till Sunday? And then the Sabres have a change of heart and decide we'll give you another chance how would that look

John Vogl‏ @BuffNewsVogl
Sam Reinhart was late to team meeting in hotel, source says, and punishment was increased. Reinhart watched whole game from bench
