Meaningful debate would assume you listen too, and admit when you are wrong. As in the case of Stepan. He was doing everything but score, now he is scoring and he still is terrible to you. 50-60 point two way-player. Proven Playoff performer. Has been on winning teams at every level. Enough already. Is he paid a little too much, probably, but only 500K to 1M too much. - tbreinold
This, 100%.

I NEVER said he was terrible. Go back and look at my posts.
I said I am not sold on his "resurgence" because Kreider and Zucc ahve been breaking their back to set him up and get him out of his funk right now. Basically because the games don't mean anything and they would still over that course of time back into the playoffs. My concerns were A) I hope that doesn't affect their game come playoff time where they are passing up shots and B) Stepan wont be getting all of those chances in the playoffs because winning is more important come day 1 of the playoffs then Step's stats or his mental state if he isn't scoring
That's what I said. - MiloslavHorava
Zucc has passed up golden, grade A chances his entire career. So...blaming Stepan for it is dumb.
Also, Stepan has proven to bring his A game in the playoffs since the beginning of his career. You worry about the wrong guys.
Personally, Zucc has driven me crazy this year. Sure he has the stats, but there are plenty of plays that leave me scratching my head like trying to force passes that aren't there, or looking for passes on a breakaway and literally stick handling past the net. |

My mistake, you didnt say that in the post I quoted. Just in a poopload of posts for the last two weeks.
A) you saying that stepan is riding Zucc and Krieder's coattails is probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Has he been doing that for the past 5 years?
B) Passing the puck to the open guy on the doorstep, or in good shooting position is called good hockey. I highly doubt Stepan's stats are on Kreider and Zuccs mind during the game at all and to suggest is quite frankly is ludicrous. |

IF he can do that.. GREAT... but its a big IF he has not struggled like this ever that I can recall in his career. Like I said before they tried to flip the switch for the playoffs last year and when they did it never went on.

Stepan's improved play is not obvious in his goals and assists but other places like and giveaways which was once a -20 to -4 and over the last couple of weeks actuallu has only 2 giveaways total, he's turning it around, unfortunately that means someone else is gonna fall off

Come on you've been watching the games, even Sam and Joe elude to guys force feeding him, TRYING to help him get out of the funk, the cameras showing him on the bench and guys talking to him. Is that debateable?
Its all over his face and Kreider and Zuccs, they are doing everything they can to get him the puck to get his confidence back. |

Zuke I disagree. I f he was a bit bigger and a good face off guy he would be an awesome center. Probably the best vision/passing skills on the team. He always looks to set up guys 1st.
Kreider I would tend to agree. He has been passing up some attempts. I would say thats a good thing though. Get Stepans confidence up before the playoffs. If Stepan was still in the same funk from a month ago going into the playoffs, that would probably not be a good thing, having your #1 center going into the playoffs with his confidence in the crapper. |

I will point out that at one time we did have what looked like 2 players who would easily score 30, that's not gonna happen and another 4 who would have 20, that's not gonna happen, we'll have 4 players who get in the 20's, seems that no matter who we bring in here they all fall off, no one is ever able to star on Broadway, Ziba did break his leg but has been the worst case scenario we could have imagined....an enigma |

Thats just it..the guy has proven to be one you can count on. He played a wired shut jaw and you guys piss on him like he's a nobody. All because he didn't score for 29 games. Like I said, you can't fix stupid. |
