Then you have to draft him.
- bloatedmosquito

Ugh no, he's going to fall into Van's lap the same as a capable cheap back up that can play 25-30 games a year.

for sure, that would mean they are tanking from the start. I just question whether that is beneficial for the young prospects. Having AHL goaltending throughout the season. We will be bad either way
- CanuckDon

That is a valid point. A full season tank is excessive and not required. A tank can be initiated after New Years and still be effective.

Plus I put my faith into injuries to take care of any over-performing players.

You win that round amigo.

Why can't Benning tell Green that Demko has to get at least 65% of the starts? Or tell him he is your starting goalie next year? It's a developmental team.
- CanuckDon

I'm sure Green gets directives on playing time & roles.
Also there is dialogue between JB & TG regularly.

I just envision the kids making mistakes and the puck ending up in the net every time which won't be great for their confidence. I kind of like this seasons tank. The team played hard for 70% of the year and when we were out it's been a full sh!t show. Whether or not it's intentional I don't know but it's certainly effective.

Pretty much the same thing happened last season. A lot of the kids aren't used to an 82 game season. I'm sure by now most are pretty drained. This year injuries hurt them more.

This type of talk has to end and you are responsible for ending it. If we all work together we can end this horrible infliction.

Finding a veteran backup goalie to play 25 games is the equivalent of finding an under 26 top 6 forward for less than $3MM

Playing a line up riddled with youth will get inconsistentcy & many empty seats.
We r not Toronto where they buckup no matter what.
Any notion of a season long tank is folly & totally counter productive.
I expect Miller back hopefully for only a 1yr contract but prolly ends up a 2yrs.
Other goalies like Raanta or Grubauer would be a better route to take.
Marky is iffy IMO its sink or swim next year for him. He is temporary in the long term.

Who do you and Manfan consider 'kids'?

For me, Stecher is the only true kid who's getting significant playing time. The rest are non-difference makers. Might have another two or three next season but the majority of playing time will be given to more seasoned players.

Goblin, Boeser, Horvat, Stetcher, Hutton, Baertchi, Granlund, Molino, Tree, Juolevi (maybe)....Anybody under 25 would be my definition. The team should be one of the youngest in the league.

Gender? Did I mention gender?

Saying that, I assume most on here are women due to the amount of female doging and crying that goes on...

Can Benning fire Willie curbside in Buffalo? Or a more dangerous City like Chicago
- CanuckDon

I don't think Willie knows how to use Skype.

Bernier is quietly having a good season. Could be a good option if signs low enough.

Horvat, Hutton, Baer, and Granlund are not kids, especially starting next season.

Boeser, STECHER, and Tree are but I'm not sure how much playing time they will get. STECHER will certainly not be getting 20:00 minutes a night like he is now. I don't think the kids will be too adversely affected by a prolonged losing streak.
