Most do, but I think they passed that rule where if you're 18 now, you can go to the visor--but I'm not sure if that extends to NCAA.

Full cage/shield in college. That means there is a chin cup, which holds the helmet in place a little better.

There used to be another ex-Hawk who was constantly adjusting his helmet.......The beloved by some Mr. Leddy.

I imagine they would score a lot of goals and also give up a ton of goals. Not exactly a very Defensive-minded forward line.

Kucherov is a very good two way player. The other 2 not so much.

TvR at $825,000 on a third pairing role, considering the quality of his play that is a bargain to say the least. TvR isn't the next Keith, but he's been solid and most nights better than #51. I hope Stan works out something with Vegas to the team doesn't lose TvR.
- DarthKane

I have never been a huge fan of Campbell, and he has never been much defensively, but he was always able to skate. I don't want to say the wheels fell off, but man he is driving on at least a few flat tires. If you consider TVR as your #5, then I guess you could do worse than Campbell as your #6, but his skating declined in a hurry.

Except most kids have "hang" on the cage so they look cool.

I thought Leddy was always adjusting his cup because his cojones were so small!!!!

True. But there is also a rule that if your helmet comes off there is a immediate stoppage of play. Also, you can only let it hang so far....

Helmet and Face Mask - All players are required to wear ice hockey
helmets with throat straps securely fastened. There shall only be enough
room between the throat strap and the chin to insert two fingers.
PENALTY—Minor.
Note: An on-ice official shall check each starting goalkeeper’s throat
strap before the start of the game.

If a player’s (including goalkeeper’s) mask and/or helmet is displaced,
there shall be an immediate whistle.

PENALTY—Players shall not be permitted to participate in the
warm-up and game until equipment has been corrected. Misconduct
for second offense by the same player in the same game. Game
misconduct for third offense by the same player in the same game.
All players must properly wear a HECC-approved helmet and HECC approved
face mask to be in the bench area. Backup goalkeepers must
properly wear a goalkeeper helmet with wire cage to be in the bench area.

This is going to sound like I'm joking around, but I'm not.

Have you guys noticed Hayden is constantly fidgeting with his helmet when he's on the ice? I think it needs to be adjusted or something. Seems every shift he's trying to fix it mid-stride and during plays.

- Hank3Henshaw

From a Lazerus article:

Two games into his NHL career, John Hayden apparently has yet to find a helmet that fits his head and its considerable flow. He’s constantly adjusting his lid, often during game play, even while battling for position in front of the crease.

“I think it’s my fault,” the Yale product said. “I’ve got to figure that out. I just got a haircut, so it can’t be too much hair.”

Hayden should have NHL ready hair...clearly he's not ready for the big league.

3 things:

1) Jurco finally showed why the Hawks were after him for 6 weeks (red font).

2) As someone who has never played hockey, I want someone to explain the Hawks PK. I watch other teams put a forward almost to the blue line to get between the point players. Why do the Hawks insist on that tight box by the goalie? I know the coaches know what they're doing because they're three time champs, but I would like to know what the advantages and disadvantages are of keeping the forwards close tho the goalie vs going out to the point.

3) To Enzo: Believe me, everything is great in America (Trump accent).

Just spitballing here. I mean its only been a week for the kid. But maybe it sits differently on the noggin. Should be the same strap though.
- tb10of11

First time I saw him with the Hawks, I thought his helmet was too small. It looked to be sitting too high on his head. I know he had all that hair under there though.

The passive box is obsolete.

The so-called advantages are :

1) Out of shape players don't have to move much.
2) Mentally-challenged players don't have to think much.
3) Easier practices for lazy players and coaches.
4) Forms an aesthetically-pleasing geometric shape.

Disadvantages :

1) No pressure on the PP point man.
2) Prone to creating screens in front of the goalie.
3) Generates few SH opportunities.

All 3 are regularly displayed by the Hawks. They have one SH goal, and that was an empty net.

Any word yet when Stamkos will return?
- EbonyRaptor

I heard Stevie Y on XM the other day...They are not giving a time but by all indications it is more a matter of when than if. Stamkos has been training hard.

So I think this will be the foundation for our playoff lines:

XXX-Toews-Panik
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
XXX-XXX-Hossa
Desjardins-Kruger-XXX

Hartman, Kero, and Schmaltz will almost certainly be 3 of the missing pieces. The 4th might come down to Hayden/Jurco/Tootoo on any given night.

Just gotta figure out who gets plugged in where. But that's the general outline.

When Panik was in Tampa, I never imagined he would end up playing on a top line with Toews.

These are strange days we live in. LOL.

Seriously though, good for Panik.

Watching caps and wild. Noticing where ovi plays. Hope lil Arti's wathing too. Lil Arti needs to move closer to the net. From the dot in. Then, if someone else shoots, race towards the net looking for garbage. That's my insight for this day.

Right On !!!

It's a Q coaching thing to conserve energy as well....which probably goes along with your lazy theory. It has been his MO since he got here. Do NOT play aggressive until behind. Do NOT hit for fear of injury. Do NOT clear the crease EVER. Do NOT push the pace on the PP, take it slow and easy, pass around the perimeter until a one timer can be taken from the side walls, or 2 can hurt some shin guards. Do NOT park yourself in front of the net and get dirty Shaw goals.etc...etc...etc...that's the system.
But he's won 3 CUPS hasn't he. I guess there's something to be said for conserving energy and limiting the injuries. YES...it's frustrating at times....and they win so many games that they don't deserve. ...so I guess we'll see what gives in a few weeks.
CC is the key....if he's HOT......they're a tough out in 7.

I don't think we'll see Hayden during the playoffs,or Kempney, and that will be last .time because I get the feeling he will head back to Europe. All coaches have there favorites andQ's is Tvr.Its to bad,I would like to see him in the top 4.
- Tatoo

I think you're right about Kempney. Q hasn't played him enough to suggest that he'll see much of the playoffs. And I agree that he could play in front of Campbell, especially in this part of the season.

Yeah, we can mock the box all we want, but you can't argue with results. Multiple Cups. Something must be working right.
