I think they play a more complete game overall. The Oilers have the talent to score 7 goals against poop teams but there are none of those in the playoffs, most of the season the Oilers have relied a bit too heavily on McDavid and Talbot. I hope I'm wrong but we will soon find out if this team has enough depth to go far in the playoffs. As for the Flames, those mungers are right, those early season games are more indicative of the Oilers than the Flames. As of now, they are a much different team.

Solid point... Our balance was not really experienced until lately because we lacked the productivity out of players like Nuge, Ebs, Pouliot - we will need these players to continue what they finally started to do the last couple to be more balanced... Its true we made it here on the backs of McDavid, Talbot and Drai- and to smaller extents Lucic and a few others but I feel if the 2nd line can build momentum -who knows- but we beat many teams being a 1 line wonder... |

Flames are in tough spot.
Lost to Kings, leaving them 3 behind Oilers.
5 games left, 2 against Sharks and 2 against the Ducks, last game vs Kings again.
Doubt they miss playoffs but they very well can go into it on a long losing streak and having to start vs the Hawks.
On the flip side Flame wins help Oiler chances of getting top spot in the division. |
