With the way the Oil have played the Pacific this year I could see them getting to the second round and perhaps even the third round. Out of Calgary, San Jose and Anaheim I wouldn't want to face the Ducks if at all possible though. An Edmonton/Calgary series would be crazy! San Jose right now seems like the team we would match up the best against in my opinion. Either way (frank) it if someone woulda told me at the beginning of the season we would make playoffs I wouldn't of believed them. I figured we would be lucky to squeeze in to the wildcard last minute at best. |

I was never an Oil fan because of it but I will admit to being an Oiler 'fan' in 06 no different than you all were in 04.
I just remembered how the game flowed, something still not fully reined in because Lemaire, and how the Oil dominated even when they didn't truly care. No coincidence they won their last cup that year.
I miss those games. Even in the post clutch era, they will never grasp the gazelle again. - FLflames34
Wtf??? I cheered for every team that played against the flames in 04. Even went out looking for a Tampa shirt in the finals. |

Really? I hate them but the Flames scare me the most in the pacific. |

Quite the circle jerk in here. I don't like it. (frank)in guys don't deserve to be in the post season. Enjoy your first round exit ladies. McD and Talbot can't carry your sorry asses through a series. Better hope you win before Mcjesus needs to get paid |

Their bottom 6 scoring will dry up in the PO's. They aren't going anywhere...at least not yet. |

Expect a lot of starts going to LB down the final stretch of the season btw. I assume that Talbot will be given some rest. Surprisingly, there seems to be controversial opinions on whether this should be the case.

You should be more afraid of the Sharks. Pretty sure if we face 'em in any round in the playoffs, Thornton and Marleau are going to have flashbacks of what the Oilers did to them back in '06. Sure no one from '06 is on the Oilers team anymore, but I'd still assume that they still have some sort of resent towards the Oilers in general for that very reason. Also, don't forget that the Sharks lead by Thornton and Marleau lost in the finals last year. Plus they are at the near end of their career.
SJ have the defense, offense, depth, and goaltending to pretty much overcome any team (other than Caps and possibly Wild).
On another note, I still cannot believe that Thornton and Marleau have been on the same team since '06. Talk about loyalty.
However, McLellan did coach SJ, so he would like to get "even" with them, but even then, good luck.
All in all, I'd place a bet that if we face SJ in the first round, barring any miracle, we'll be out in 6 games or less. |

Oilers are a damn good team - Squilliam-
Finally.
Been a tough stretch, my leafs were out of the playoffs and my second fav team the oilers were. Now they both may be back in the dance. |

Ducks are the (IMO) worst 1st round matchup a close second would be falling back and getting the Hawks. |

Why? I think we match up well against- further we dominated them... I would rather play them in the second or 3rd round tho.... It sickens me 26 years of the cup NOT coming north of the border... Its time for a Canadian team to kick some ass! |

Its Pavelski and Coutier that are most dangerous on that time... Marleau and Thornton are way more manageable than that of the past.

I think they play a more complete game overall. The Oilers have the talent to score 7 goals against poop teams but there are none of those in the playoffs, most of the season the Oilers have relied a bit too heavily on McDavid and Talbot. I hope I'm wrong but we will soon find out if this team has enough depth to go far in the playoffs. As for the Flames, those mungers are right, those early season games are more indicative of the Oilers than the Flames. As of now, they are a much different team. |
