A BoA would be awesome, but just happy to be going to the post season. - McSavioursPupil
If we were sneaking in on a wildcard i would feel the same way. This team has a legit shot to win the division and can play against any of the teams in the league.
I don't feel we are an underdog against any team in the west except Chicago. The team has done great and i'm very proud of the season they've had but i would be disappointed with a first round exit especially if it was in 5 games or less.
This is a better team than in '06 and they made the finals.

They are also going to be playing against teams who are a lot better now than they were back then. Also the fact the majority of the team has zero playoff experience, definitely puts them into the underdog category.

True, but they did pick up a few guys that have some.
Also having the best player in the world and a world class goalie helps too.
I shouldn't admit this here, but the first game I remember watching was Oilers and Jets, a meaningless game around January 1990. It made me want to be a hockey player (I failed) but it made me love the game. I wasnt yet 6 but I remember watching it on tv, and inspired by Mess.
It changed my life. I became a fan, and an obsessive, because of (in part) Edmonton. I'll never forget it. I spent years in the states, and it was the first glimpse I got of the game.
For that reason, I pulled for them in 06. And growing up in Calgary, if they go out, I will pull for Edmonton to win.

I hate the flames. I can't help it. I don't think I can ever cheer for them. I have a soft spot for the Canucks I'm ashamed of, and I guess that's from growing up in B.C. I do however not hate a lot of the players on the Flames. There is some real talent on that team and they should be a decent team for a while with some consistent tending. (frank) Ferland though. BOA should have meaning again

That would be great but i think Anaheim will win the division and Oilers and Sharks will take 2nd and 3rd and meet 1st round. - Oildrum
Looks that way right now. You never know though. Idgaf who we play anymore. If Talbot is on, and everyone plays like they can/have been lately this team could beat anyone in the first couple rounds. Chicago most likely in the west finals will be a tough challenge for whoever makes it there.

This. Watching the flames lose is about as good as seeing the oil win. That's the whole point of a rivalry.

I was never an Oil fan because of it but I will admit to being an Oiler 'fan' in 06 no different than you all were in 04.
I just remembered how the game flowed, something still not fully reined in because Lemaire, and how the Oil dominated even when they didn't truly care. No coincidence they won their last cup that year.
I miss those games. Even in the post clutch era, they will never grasp the gazelle again.
