He missed a meeting or was late

Sounds like he has off-ice issues and is a headcase. Oh wait that's just the black players.

If we miss the playoffs (which we will) we need to trade this pick. This draft totally sucks and there is no reason to draft this year. WE have enough young players who we will not give a chance to in the NHL. I say we trade the pick along with a lets say a Nelson and other pieces and get some one in here. This is the move that needs to be made. Will it?? Nope cause if we are still dealing with GArth Snow it will never happen but we need to.

I don't think you can pin missing the playoff on Weight. That's a Garth issue. Dougie got them damn close and they're going to fall just short. He did a very commendable job turning the team around, but I think he's better suited for a different role.

I agree. Weight should have taken over earlier. I do think Weight would rather have a different role.

Neither is Detroit. Remember when I was getting heat for that beginning of season.
Sad actually. Last year at the Joe. 25 years of consecutively making playoffs since 1990. WOW.
I guess Franzy need a chance of scenario but instead he part of a bad memory.

Or maybe he's just a mush

Garth Snow should be a scout......or an assistant GM. He never should have been handed the reigns having zero experience. That in itself was a head scratcher. Once Wang lost majority ownership, his pieces should have gone with him, as they were merely figure heads and not proper pieces to the puzzle.

i love JT but he not anywhere near the McDavid or Crosby class nor will he ever be.
And I agree if Matthews is this good as rookie, imagine him in few years.

All I care about is can isles make playoffs. Now enters another team. Carolina could very well get the last spot. they are most deserving of it. they have been playing lights out.

- Spartiarti

You're comparing apples to kiwis. Tavares was never an end to end guy like McDavid. He's also played with dog sh!t since he's been here. Down low he's one of the best players in the league. If he had legitimate talent to play with, number 1, it would free him up, and number 2, he'd be able to make those passes that noone expected. If you put JT with a natural sniper with speed......watch out.

I believe the player is a forward. Mike Vecchione is a center.

You are right.. sorry.. thought it was about the Penn State kid. I am going to FF for the 9th year in a row if anyone is heading out to see it. It's a really cool event and this year in Chicago should be very easy to get flights, hotel, etc.

Second to Snow going, an overhaul of the culture/system is the next most important thing on the offseason to-do list. I'll happily dial back the offense a little in the name of implementing a more defensive system.

I'll happily sign up for dialing back the offense for a better defensive system. Isles cannot continue to play this system.

losing Strome is a bigger deal than most are making it. With him and Kulemin hurt you end up with 2 players that would/should not be playing. Add that to the 2 or 3 "passengers" and it's a totally different team. .. tough to watch at this point.

No problem. I have no idea how good this kid could be? Seems worth a shot to try to sign him. Has to be a very long shot though.

This team is so fken stupid it's painful. A top tier talent with a 100 MPH slap shot is not going to help your PP?!?! Why do these dopes not understand how a top prospect changes games. We have forever played "depth signings" instead of Talent... it's just friggin absurd!.
- niteislander

What Doug Weight said is exactly what I've said Snow has been doing for years. He would lure bush league journeymen to come here by promising top line minutes. This is why for years we scratched our heads, and asked how is Conacher, Kennedy, Bernier, or even a Brian Strait playing on a regular shift. Its because they phucking make these promises and nothing else matters.

"I’m not sure one guy, even on the power play, can make that sort of difference. We’ll have eight healthy D on Thurs. who all expect to be in the lineup and have earned the right." This quote right here is why the PP has not worked year after year. Its utterly amazing.

I would still like to give Strome one more shot next year and especially with a new coach. Strome cannot have much value in a trade anyway. Nelson is the guy I would move in a package with the #1 pick.

Good point. Isles might not even have a system. Players seem to be doing whatever they want with no structure.

the kid will sign with the Rangers and he should. Look at Vesey.. he is playing every game this year just about.. you think if he signed on Isles, Chicago, etc. He would get that kind of play? That is the other result of these dolts burying guys in the AHL.. No one in their right mind would come here.. Let's see.. I can sign here and you can put me in B-port while you play Gionta and Quinne? Nah... I'm good.

I would move Nelson, Bailey and a D-prospect or guy on team no named Leddy ... Strome will be a very good player with some of the other kids playing on his line.

I would also add to this bringing someone in who's a known PP specialist. I loved Doug Weight as a player, but for whatever the reason, they can't seem to get the PP going......and its been years now.

I could not blame the kid at all for not signing. Especially not with the current people in charge.

If I can keep the #1 pick that would be good. Bailey will hopefully go in a separate deal and maybe include a dman with Nelson.

Never said he couldn't skate and let's be clear I said he's overrated by some in this fan base which he most definitely 100% is. This is how BS spirals out of control on this thread.

I got news for you......with the additions of Ho Sang and next year Barzal, Strome lost his spot. Ho Sang in the few games he's played has shown more dynamic offensive skill than Strome, who's supposed to be an offensive talent.
