If they eat close to half AMac's contract, then I think there is a chance he could be dealt. He's not a bad option for a 3rd pair dman at $2.5 million for three years. Much to the chagrin of the fanbase, he is pretty durable.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Vegas took him either. He's not too old, under control for a few years and can be a #4 and vet D man for them. I mean it's not like all the other teams in the league will be exposing many great D men anyway.

I wouldn't mind Read in the VDV role next. Yes, he is overpaid, but it is for one more year. I think it would make more sense to let him play out his contract and clear the entire cap hit in 2 years. If Hexy could get a 3rd rounder for Rinaldo, it just takes one GM for AMac to be moved. Myers made it farther in training camp in his first year, then Provorov did in his first year when he went back to Branden. I think Myers has a very good shot, it certainly helps because he is a righty.

-Does anyone remember that last Islanders game where Jason Chimera scored on the rush due to Ghost and Gudas coming off the bench. Both play the right side, so Gudas missed his man? Same thing on the Kyle Turris goal. Manning and Del Zotto are left side defensemen. One took out the other.

-I'll be the first to admit I've been hard unfair to Jordan Weal but did I see a lot of Weal in OT and no Konecny? Am I being unfair to Hakstol by calling that stupid coaching?

The Flyers could put a pretty good 4th line together with Read, Bellemare, and say Weise. It would be high priced, but they would be competitive. It would be nice if the Flyers could move MacDonald to make room for some of the young guys.

I've thought about that as a 4th line also. My only concern about AMac being moved, it would be shocking to see 3 new guys on rookie contracts added. AMac is already a sunk cost to be a bridge. I don't the benefit of adding a 2nd bridge by bringing back MDZ.

I've thought about that concern also, but there are growing pains that have to probably happen with young players, just as we've seen with Gostisbehere this year. That process has to happen at some point. Coaches and GM's like to have some veterans around to help out with that, and not throw young players to the wolves. Provorov has handled it but that's not a normal occurrence. If the Flyers have a chance to deal MacDonald in a deal they can live with, they should make it.
