You lack understanding of roles on a team. If you did, you'd know that Vandevelde and Weal aren't and never will be competing for ice time. Weal is a more talented offensive player, but he does not have the size or checking ability that Vandevelde has. Nor do we know that Weal would be a better PKer in the NHL. Two completely different players. - MJL
Vandevelde is poop in any NHL role including the PK. We have no evidence Weal would be bad at the PK. He's been their best shot suppression forward in his 17 games with the Flyers this season.
Even so, Read would be fine on the PK and would be an upgrade over VDV. Weal would have been an upgrade on the 4th line and the team could have kept him past this season.
Instead, Weal is a UFA, the PK was terrible and the 4th line was atrocious. |

Ghost would be good on the PK if ever used there.
He will never ever ever be used there. |

Ohhh. Like 'Of Mice and Men'.
I'm trying the Stand right now. 100 pages in, like 1000 to go. It's good but the length kills motivation. - flyer_nutter
Keep going. Trust me on this. |

You could probably get a huge haul for Giroux from Ottawa if you took Bobby Ryan off their hands. That deal is almost Dustin Brown bad. |

It's not about where you end up. It's about the journey to get there. And what a journey it was this year. |

Bought him a Scion.
I had to drive my moms old light green Sunbird. - flyer_nutter
He started with his Grandfather's outback that he drove for two yrs. We traded that for a Corolla he totalled after a month. (Not his fault). Then we bought a Scion which turned out to be a victim of Sandy and started falling apart (Was a purchase made against my better judgment). So I trashed that one for a newer model.
I've dumped 5 grand into the 4 yr process (mostly into trying to fix the first Scion). He's paid all the rest. |

Didn't know this. I wonder why. I do think it's a stretch to call him anything more than respectable defensively in the traditional sense......but there's always a reason for this. Whatever line he has been on has done well, even when it wasn't doing well prior or after. It's intriguing, even if I don't expect this going forward to this extent. But we really have no real, usable data on Weal prior to this, so it's all learning. Obviously, he's been sheltered, so that's worth mentioning, even if who gives a poop? Doing well is doing well. Period.
He's intelligent obviously in reading plays, and the guy just works his ass off in both ends. You can just see how important every shift is. No slack in the d zone. He's moving, doing his best. Don't know the stats, but wouldn't surprise me to see him be exceptional at zone exits, low on turnovers. On his off wing yet, he's quite adept at getting it out with possession. And gaining the blue line with possession using clever passes. In the o-zone he's also adept at sustaining cycles, which has an impact in playing less d. |

You darn right well know what I'm talking about. That's without delving into your poor use of shot metrics to fit your narrative.
