Most have been from Podcasts: Dimitri Filipovic, Jeff Marek, Charlie O'Connor, Dom Luszczyszyn, etc. I'm not digging up audio clips.

I'm shocked at that. Saved me from wasting more time because most of the stuff is complete nonsense. Correlation and causation.

Current Flyers 4th line has 2 of the club’s 10 least productive forwards (min 150 gp) since 2000.

Vandevelde and Bellmare getting outscored by Carcillo , Donald Brashear,

- Flyers Time

I love the fourth line guys. I love them. Vandevelde for example has nothing on Carcillo or Brashear. He brings next to nothing. This is easily the worst fourth line combination I've ever seen as a Flyers fan. The only player I've seen worse than Vandevelde that I can think of is Riley Cote. That guy couldn't play hockey.

But I'm not sold Hakstol doesn't actually want to keep him around and would communicate such to Hextall. I think Hakstol (and Hextall even) like the idea of having Gudas and MacDonald as 2 vets to insulate the kids for at least another year or two. They're both top 4 -- or better -- guys to the coach. I can't see him giving his 25 minutes to a kid, or bumping up Gudas and leaving 2 pairs of rookies+Ghost. Likely they bring in Sanheim plus Hagg or Morin for Schultz and Manning and leave it at that.

- Mononoke

I think it's reasonable that a coach would want some veterans to help insulate rookies, but at some point they have to start getting these guys in the lineup. Growing pains are going to happen, and it's a process that has to start. They have to make roster space.

That's ok. Not everyone is able to reach the highest plane of existence and achieve transcendence. I won't look down on you, promise. Besides, I can't even see you guys from up here!

Also, that video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Slander Radiohead, but do no such thing to him or else.

That one bugs me because it comes from the alleged greatest album ever made of all time ever.

I was always under the impression that, in order to seem to like Radiohead, you had to be a hipster.
- jmatchett383

Ahhhh, I see the mix up. No, hating Radiohead is actually the hipster thing to do now. It's a confusing maze of hipster-ism, so I can't blame you for being mixed up

I don't get how there is rampant team wide regression, throughout the entire lineup, and the coach bears no blame, and it's just players just all sucking together and not trying hard enough.

This team generates chances at a horrible rate driven by a system geared to take endless unscreened point shots, with no team shooting from a further average distance. That's not on the system? In the last couple weeks, Simmonds and Schenn have themselves called it out saying it's not how you score in this league. But that's perfect and needs no criticism or change? It doesn't mean Hakstol can't be the one to change it, although coaches are notoriously stubborn creatures and it smells of something rooted in the style of college hockey.....but he's as responsible for this year as the players. Criticizing the coach AND the players is a no-no, but criticizing just the players is a-ok? Because we have zero proof league-wide that coaches and coaching changes can vastly affect how a team plays.

- Mononoke

You've got the cart before the horse. The team's lack of ability to generate chances is what drives the amount of point shots taken, not a system that is designed to do so. The Flyers system is the same as any other hockey system. As if Hakstol would instill the "shots from the slot" system and the Flyers would all of a sudden start generating quality high percentage chances by the bucket full. I'd really like to actually talk systems with you and see if you actually know what Hakstol's system actually is. I haven't read anyone state that the coach is immune from criticism, so that's hyperbole on your part. I'd love for you to link to the actual quotes from Schenn and Simmonds, because I guarantee it was not said in the context that you want it to be said in.

The GM controls who makes the team. Coach can have input, but that's on the GM.

What is the point of putting a young player on the team when he will just be scratched in favor of Schultz and Vandevelde?

For better or worse, every coach has a shelf life.

Varsity and his reign will be over at some point. Positive thoughts.

I just want to know what ones expectations of this team would be full knowing in September Giroux would be resembling a montreal version of Scott Gomez all season.
