There roster has players, only prob is that some are aging or on bad contracts and havent been able to replace Voynov which solidified their D and top 4 pairings.
LAK have denied permission in past to other teams and gave a raise to him bc he's the apparent next choice.... - Ur Not Me
Well that's kind of my point. Yeah, there is talent, but he has done a bad job at managing for the future. They went all in, and were very successful, but Lombardi did a piss-poor job at planning ahead. They have a lot of guys on bad contracts, a lot of older guys, and a prospect pool that is nearly devoid of any real talent.
Maybe Sutter retires or steps aside and Stevens is the next LAK coach, but I would just find it hard to see them firing Sutter. |

He can come and doom the Isles after a couple of Cups as well. If you can get guys like Lombardi or Tallon you do without a second thought. - ses111
I'd prefer Tallon, but 1st Garf needs 2 go ..... |

Is John Stevens a top choice in term of coaching hires? - ses111
If he's granted permission to interview with other teams, yeah. I would imagine he's one of the most coveted guys around the league in terms of head coaching candidates.
He's exactly what this teams needs. He coaches LAK's defense and we are sorely in need of a defensively-competent coach. |

A defensive coach is really needed with this team. He seems a lot like Dineen in terms of both guys seem to get fired fairly early. Dineen or Stevens could work well. Funny how most teams fire coaches quickly. Not the Isles. |

Tallon works fine for me and may have the edge over Lombardi. No question Garth needs to go. |

Agreed Ses, to put the final pieces on a team to win the cup you have to trade picks / prospects but if you win the cup then you did a good job. Plenty of teams who are a couple pieces away have tried ( cough Rangers ) and haven't been successful that's when it hurts but you have to go for it when you can.
Winning 2 cups even better |

There usually is a price to be paid when winning a few Cups. Cap and prospect pool will take a hit. Kings should not regret anything 7. |

I will never understand why none of these guys has not gone full cage yet. you sign these guys for Millions of dollars. You have guys like Berard lose an eye, out for long time with pucks to face, etc. I would put it in the contract...If I am paying you 5 mill + than u are wearing a full mask. You wear it in College.. keep it on. |

He's been nothing short of fantastic in his short stint here, so far. Very few obvious mistakes, hustles his ass off, no stupid penalties, and he generates a ton of offense and possession. He's earned everything he is getting, so far. |

Still cannot believe Weight admitted he should have changed the PP earlier. A coach admitting blame? - ses111
I love Weight and think he's doing a very good job, but his comments that we all like are only going to go so far, for so long.
He's saying all the right things, but let's be honest with each other for a minute...if Capuano was behind the bench and they went 0-for-6 on the PP and Ho Sang didn't get moved to the top unit until the 6th PP...we'd all be, rightfully, killing him on here.
I like Doug's openness and ability to call things what they are...but words mean nothing if he doesn't follow through. He's earned some trust for now, but eventually just saying the things we all want to hear won't be enough. |

This is all true chief. I would hope Doug is at least putting pressure on Garth to get Pulock up here. I like Doug and if they team makes the playoffs, I would seriously consider bringing him back as coach. I still would not mind starting fresh with a new POHO, GM, and coach. |

I've just noticed a couple things here and there that Weight has done that seemed very Capuano-like. Nobody really pointed them out and I know that, had it been Cappy everyone would have been yelling and screaming about them.
Weight deserves a ton of credit for turning this team around, but I'm just afraid that he'll stick around because he's "not Capuano" and turn out to be not that much different. If it were up to me, I'd really like to see them go in a different direction with the coaching staff. I think this team needs an overhaul of the entire culture, not just swapping Capuano for Weight. |

I would still vote to clean house unless Weight can get this team to the Eastern conference finals. If Garth is coming back, I would at least need a new POHO and a new coach. I do not like the idea of both Garth and Weight coming back. |

to defend brock nelson, he did lay someone out bigly vs. the penguins. if he could bring that sort of game every night he would be a lot better player... |

I don't share in all your views about Ladd, but I would agree with this. Adding a guy who can distribute the puck rather than a redundant player in Ladd (we already have Lee as the big body in front of the net) would go a long way.
Also, it can't really get worse than 0-for-6, so there's that too. |

I know you love Vagina, and thats good, but this one has been pounded a bit too much and it's best years I think are behind it (him)
Also in all seriousness we need speed and puck retrieval and as you suggested quick passes and distribution and I just don't think he's the best person either obviously. I just think he's a one trick pony. |
