the minor league team is in the works...rumor has it that Chicago Wolves might affiliate with Vegas for now...I wonder who their coach is?

This is the latest news I've seen on their AHL plans. I think protecting Stolarz is crucial because, unlike Subban and some other prospect goalies, he won't have to pass thru waivers to get to the AHL for 17-18.

That is the big thing with these expansion draft rules...most of the young development players are exempt from the draft. The draft is where they will get a chance to add young (18) players

I don't get it...

In all seriousness...I would imagine he moves to Minnesota anyway. Had to mention though

23 games until he fits the requirement to meet the 40/70 exposure limit rules. He's not safe from the expansion draft.

Lyon, Alex 24 G $925,000 RFA (2017)
Hart, Carter 18 G $792,500 RFA (2019)

I'm more worried for the next round of expansion which we all know is coming. 31 teams will only work for so long. It'll force another expansion or doubtful a contraction.

For the record I have no issue with Michael Raffl's skating. In fact I would argue Couturier and Weise are worse skaters but remain effective.

Me too, and I get what they are doing with Morin. I think the plan is that when he does come up he'll be ready to step right in and play a key shutdown/PK role while taking a regular shift in their top 4.

Yeah, I'm guessing 19-20 at the earliest. Honestly, I rather see a team fold and the NHL go back to 30. The product is watered down enough.

I've been guilty of calling for his call up since the beginning of this year, but I've developed more of a patience and understanding for keeping Morin down there as the season has moved on. It seems if the Flyers management just wanted a big defensive shutdown mean dman that can beat up on people, then Morin (probably) would have been up with the team by now. But its clear they want him to do more than that / expect more from him. When you compare Morin to our other defensive prospects, all the others (minus Hagg maybe) have been key contributors / creators to their respective teams' offense (mainly at the Junior level). Its safe to assume we are building a team that's offense will be driven from our backend with guys like Ghost, Sanheim, Myers, and even Provy. And its safe to further assume our management wants Morin's development to cater to that style and find chemistry with perhaps another prospect for their eventual call up.

My dream scenario, is that by 19-20, the Flyers D looks something like:

Sanheim-Provorov
Morin-Myers
Hagg-Ghost

That IS what he is and what they want him to be and how they use him in the AHL: as a big defensive shutdown mean dman that can beat up on people. He's not a tough one to read. They're not keeping him down because they think he'll magically become a monster 2-way player; they're keeping him down because they probably don't think he was NHL ready as a big defensive shutdown mean dman that can beat up on people.
