Plus, use your brain.......someone...... the NHL season is 7 months long. No one is saying October doesn't count, but if a team won all the games in a single month and in the other six months are hardly a playoff team, that seems to be something worth commenting on/ knowing.

I mean, if you were going to make a bet, wouldn't you want that information? Do you seriously think that if two teams have the same record that you shouldn't be interested in knowing how they each came by it?

The frustrating thing here is that - like everyone - I say dumb crap every day, but it's never the dumb stuff that actually gets called out. It's ironically usually the stuff that I'm right about.

I love your troll blog James, you have a knack for it. But again, you have to be more realistic with your content. Montreal had 9 games in October, they could have lost 6 of them and still be in the playoffs, not quite the lottery team like you had stated.

Who's contention? A bunch of idiots who just look at the standings? I talk to a lot of people who know way more about hockey than me and not one of them respects Chiarelli.

They don't have to respect him but you can't deny what he's done.

I love that you just wrote this after insulting my blogs. Are you kidding me?

Ovechkin is a better goal scorer than Wayne Gretzky. That is a mathematical fact based on how many goals Ovechkin has in his era and adjusting it to the era when Grant Fuhr was a hall of fame quality goalie.

Even though he played in practically the lowest scoring era in NHL history, OV has seven 50 goal seasons.

This is a stupid argument because it can be proven and has been.

Then again, the kind of people that find my writing stupid because it's not the same generic unthinking crap you're used to are the exact kind of people who don't believe in things like facts and measuring.

now now "Temper Tanner", don't get too triggered there my boy. In those 30yrs the game has changed more than goalie equipment has. Try to come across the blue-line in the 80s and 90s like Ovi does today, with Scott Stevens, Rob Blake, Robinson, Potvin etc. etc. bearing down on you. Try watching your neutral zone pass like Patty Kane does when Mark Messier's or Gordie Howe's elbows are closing in...etc. etc. Try mounting an offense when there is no auto-icing, wingers smashing D-men into the corners trying to make an outlet pass that has to come up short of the red-line so there's no 2-line pass. When's the last time you watched a game from that era? (or do you just bring up stats on your laptop from your Starbucks chair).

I contend that Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, Dionne, Lafleur, Bure, Orr, etc. etc. from that list would absolutely light it up in today's soft game. They smoked in the intermission for God's sake! I know players personally who played drunk!

Today, these kids have a chef, a fitness coach, strength and conditioning, a massage therapist, a nutritionist, they watch video of themselves, they have the advancement of technology in their gear, the ice surface, coaching techniques, skating techniques, technology in nutrition, I could go on forever.

Give Gretz and Mario the room that these kids have today and a one piece composite twig...in fact, give that twig to Brett Hull, or Al McInnis! Give Bure or Paul Coffey a pair of today's skates. It is definitely NOT a "mathematical fact" given all of those completely changed variables.

We all know your SJW views, but it would be nice if you kept it out of hockey.

People are entitled to their opinions, both of which era offered the best scorers and also of the quality of your writing.

For me the two worst are Greg Millen and Ray Ferarro.
- James_Tanner

Ferarro is just terrible. I'd rather have Pierre McGuire, yeah, I said it.

Gotta have Bure(he's got more GPG than both Ovechkin and Gretzky) in there along with Yzerman and Jagr.
