Just because you think someone is awesome doesn't automatically make them one of the top pure goal scorers of all time, kid.

And going past the second round of the playoffs doesn't make someone a winner either.

At their peak, I think most of the guys on this list are ahead of Ovi, certainly 10 of them. Throwing out a "top ten" comment is something that should be thought of before spoken out loud.

if your talking relative to their time gretzky is the greatest goal scorer but since the sport is evolving constantly ovechkin is the best all time. if you put ovechkin at his current skill level with his shot back in time and played against teams and goalies of those days he would destroy every scoring record there is.

p.s. tanner is either a troll or a moron. Coming from a huge leafs fan Gardiner is no where near norris quality.

Ovechkin is a better goal scorer than Wayne Gretzky. That is a mathematical fact based on how many goals Ovechkin has in his era and adjusting it to the era when Grant Fuhr was a hall of fame quality goalie.

Even though he played in practically the lowest scoring era in NHL history, OV has seven 50 goal seasons.

This is a stupid argument because it can be proven and has been.

Then again, the kind of people that find my writing stupid because it's not the same generic unthinking crap you're used to are the exact kind of people who don't believe in things like facts and measuring.

OK get this: a free thinking person has a different opinion than you do - and can back it up with actual statistics - and doesn't have to be a moron or a troll.



Gardiner leads the Leafs D in all offensive and defensive categories. Only three player in the NHL have been on the ice for more goals for (current as of last week, anyway) and he is ranked 10 in defenseman WAR.

Certainly I'm not out of bounds for thinking he deserves some consideration.

But no, don't measure anything, just go by your "knowledge" that he's still the same player he was five years ago.

October is part of the hockey season, you just can't remove it from the records just to try and make your point.

Plus, use your brain.......someone...... the NHL season is 7 months long. No one is saying October doesn't count, but if a team won all the games in a single month and in the other six months are hardly a playoff team, that seems to be something worth commenting on/ knowing.


I mean, if you were going to make a bet, wouldn't you want that information? Do you seriously think that if two teams have the same record that you shouldn't be interested in knowing how they each came by it?

Anyone who has to have part of their body reattached would probably say that the slash was "egregious". if it helps, Crosby also slewfooted someone later in the game

If they're going to start handing out suspensions for slashing (ones that have a terrible result), you have to start doing it at the beginning of the season. You can't start doing it 10 games before the seasons end......it's absurd to even suggest it.

Ovechkin is one of the best from his era...but being the best goal scorer doesnt win you much, I'd rather have Crosby if I'm trying to win games.
